The funny thing about people saying you should wait over it dropping $18M is that if you would have asked just about anyone pre-lawsuit, that if we could get out of the GOR **** near 10 years early for $129M with a completely CLEAN exit, most would think that was a **** good deal that we should take ASAP. I mean LITERALLY the Exit fee already for the ACC was supposed to be 3x the revenue distribution lol - which was idk around $40M a few years ago (so $120M)? And for it to drop to $75M from 2030-2036 clearly just is a statement that this conference is dead By 2030 at the latest. So Quite literally this settlement basically just fully enforces the already existing exit fee but just eliminated the GOR.
I think if we go back to the first few hundred pages of this thread when we were all trying to estimate how much it'd be "worth it" to pay to get out, $129M would be on the low end of the predictions. I mean literally Texas and OU had literally only like 1 year left in the B12 and paid $100M to get out early lol. So if you look at these things in context, and how bad of a deal we were in originally, idgaf if we're paying $111M for 28 or $147M for 26, all 3 ranges are good deals to get out imo.
I think 26 is just unlikely to get out by. 27 is most likely. But like if this all gets delayed another year and we are out for the 28 season and are only paying $111M? As long as we end up in the P2, I'm considering it a $100+M well spent regardless 27 or 28. Only thing I do wonder is if its actually better for us though if that one clause for if 6 teams leave or whatever it is all leave that they can just leave for football and remain in other sports. Like at the end of the day, all this conference realignment should only be for football. Maybe for basketball too, but all these other sports should all be regional.
