MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread: Stories, Tales, Lies, and Exaggerations

Nothing about going to the B1G is appealing to me football wise.

Our nearest conference opponent would be who? Indiana?

Playing in single digit temperatures in November will have a bigger effect on us than the south Florida heat and humidity will have on them.

Put us in the conference that has the ESPN media machine behind them and where paying players under the table is the standard, over the conference that'll accuse us of cheating every chance they get.

I HATE the SEC. But if I had to choose between the two..
Not to mention the potential loss of rivalry games with FSU and Florida.

As someone who grew up in MA and played pop warner all the way through college in the northeast, I can tell you for a fact, it is incredibly overstated the effect that cold weather has. I played at LEAST a game or two every year in frigid and cold conditions. Considering the technology that is available for players (heaters, hand warmers, insulated coats, etc) and the fact that after running around for a few minutes your body naturally makes you warm, using the cold as an excuse is BS. Snow is a different story, but is something that will affect both teams. No teams are practicing regularly in snowy conditions.

And also, when is the last time Miami HAD to play in the cold against a good team?
Our last two trips to the Pinstripe bowl in the last 6 years worked out real well…

I am still traumatized by a halfback pass in the snow in El Paso. Don’t play with my emotions.

lol.
Honestly little difference between USAF, Army and Navy basic training. Even Marine corp boot camp isn’t what it used to be.
The first three are even softer now with integrating chicks into coed training resulting in lower standards. It’s your training after Basic that matters. Seals, Rangers, PJ’s, Airborne etc., that’s where the difference lies.
The average Army enlisted seldom works with another service. I worked with the Army extensively in Germany, Worked in an elephant cage with the Navy at NSG Homestead Card Sound and JTF 4 NAS Key West, had three Marines in my Intel class and a Marine Top as an Intel instructor, even the Coast Guard at Opa Locka OID.
As well as having a Marine father and brother, an Army brother and another USAF brother.
Not bragging, just saying I’ve had more insight into the different services than 90% of former military.
Navy boot was boring AF! Male and female standards are still separate though. Even those in integrated divisions still have to meet male fitness standards. From what I've learned of each through relatives/conversations/proximity USMC boot is pretty difficult, Army less so but long AF, Navy, not difficult but challenging to adjust to (observed). I don't think I've ever heard anyone describe Air Force basic as anything resembling difficult, and I work with them every day :ROFLMAO:

Clemson doesn’t have law, med, business schools either, which also hurts.
It all comes down to - who has the most leverage - FOX and the media partners who would like Clemson and pay the $$$ - or the presidents who would like a series of ‘ standards’ for conference affiliation.

We’re referring to being accepted into the AAU.

A lot has changed since the mid 80’s. We weren’t even allowed to talk to females in Basic and they were in separate barracks/training.
In the 80’s females weren’t even allowed in combat positions in the military.
Basic Military training has been gutted since 1994.
The only disqualification at Meps in the Navy was color blindness. USAF require lifting a certain weight, since dropped since female integration and the Army and Marine disqualifications were flat feet.
I still remember getting off the plane, arriving at Lackland at 3am and having to do a 100 pushups before you could go in the barracks and go to sleep until 4:30 am revelie. **** sure they don’t do that anymore. Don’t know many 18 girls that can do 100 pushups straight out of High School day one.

Lol Florida is out of conf either way and there’s actually not a game on the future schedule (through 2036 which is the latest year they show on most sites) so can’t lose what rarely happens

There is no way Miami fsu doesn’t get played. If they go SEC, Florida game becomes in conference annual and Miami becomes almost certainly annual out of conf Just flipping spots if Miami in turn is big OR stuck in acc

And what if FSU goes to SEC and we go to Big10?

I bet FSU drops us just like UF did.

The NETWORKS are driving conference realignment with the single goal of PROGRAMMING MORE BIG GAMES THAT DRAW EYEBALLS. Rivalry games between big BRANDS is at the top of the programming list. The SEC / B10 are working on a "cross conference" schedule as well ... and in the event Miami is in the B10 and FSU is in the SEC ... that game will still be a regularly featured matchup. It is all about viewership and $$$ for the networks (and the conferences).

IF FSU goes SEC and we go Big10, that would mean FSU will play a 9 game SEC schedule and us?
No way.
I’ll bet you a case of good German beer that FSU will drop us by year two in the SEC.

I mean our QBs were Jacurri Brown and Malik Rosier in those two games lol. Were they just bad or was it the cold that made them bad? Considering both times we were 7-5 on the year, I'd say we were just bad already and the temperature would not have had anything to do with the outcome.

The SEC and Big 10 are working on a cross conference scheduling agreement for a reason. The networks want to ADD big games, not delete them.

To be fair, I was older in boot than most, so it was equally annoying dealing with both genders :ROFLMAO:. There's so many disqualifying factors now and you can't even lie like you used to because the current medical systems they employ can access literally everything in your medical history. I think the statistic was that 80% of the age eligible citizens in this country don't qualify medically/psychologically for military service. There's probably not a high % of boys that can do 100 pushups out of HS these days. I've actually been fortunate to meet some prety solid female Sailors over the years; an EOD Senior Cheif who was one of the hardest MFs I've ever spoken with, male or female. Of course 95% of the Navy is how many qualifications you have and how well you do your job. Most commands' Op tempo don't even allow a robust fitness culture, something they've been try to figure out forever (at least that's what they've said). They really haven't been lowering standards over the years to accommodate females, it's that with recruiting/retention challenges, they can't afford to kick as many people out.
