Because the ACC doesn’t have a guaranteed spot now. So that may give them more of a reason to put Miami in and not leave the conference out. Also they were not likely to put 2 teams in if Virginia won

The working theory is we’d get a bump because a P4 team missing the playoffs would be more detrimental than the “bonus” of ND/Bama making it.

The idea is the committee might be compelled to include Miami for ACC representation in the CFP, if they put the 5 highest conf. champs.

People think that when James Madison makes the playoffs over Duke that there will be a Jim Phillips led mob to get an ACC team in and that team will be Miami. When in reality that won’t happen. He will just say Duke over James Madison. Ironically they are the dukes
