Concerning G5 opening

Lashlee is an Arkansas guy and this is where his mentor (Malzhan) got his 1st HC job..just something to watch for..
AK State is a sneaky good gig.

Last 3 non interim HC's before their current one:

High Freeze
Gus Malzahn (w Lashlee has OC btw)
Brian Harsin

And those were all one year stops, too.

They don't even really fire coaches there anymore bc their guys keep getting better gigs.

Word is Lashlee and fam are loving S. Florida, tho, but this would be a hard gig for him to pass up given the connections and desire to call his own shots.

They seem to always hire offensive minded guys.. I'd say their search consists of Lashlee, Longo, Briles (maybe they would even be the school to hire Art Briles?), Brian Johnson, Lebby, and maybe even Fedora.

Longo currently makes 900K at UNC and actually has I believe 2 years of HC experience, albeit at a small school, but still.

Brian Johnson nearly got the USCe job and makes about $600k. With the success of the UF offense and his Texas connection (nothing really to recruit in Arkansas so Rhett's ties may not mean that much) I would say he'd be top choice.

Arkansas State is kinda like that Temple job in that it's a stepping stone to a better position. I don't see Lashlee getting top tier P5 offers, and if he does, it'll be at a punching bag school that never wins.

He can follow in his mentors footsteps by taking the AK State job and parlay that into a better gig after getting some HC experience.

Lashlee could easily follow the Jedd Fisch route and go from Miami OC to NFL OC (or Joe Brady as a more recent non-Miami example). Guess it depends on how badly he wants to be a HC right now (or if doesn't have interest in that at all). Also, if Miami gets a bunch of players to return and we make the playoffs next year, he could be competitive for a very good P5 HC job after 2021. If he No guarantee that he can turn around a 4-7 Arky State team quickly.

Seriously, you guys worry about the stupidest shlt. How do you get through your lives?

You can’t control any of this so why even worry about it. If he’s going to leave, he leaves that’s it.

Even UM has little they can do.

If Lashlee determines this is the right career move for him, it really doesn’t matter what we offer, he’s gone, assuming the job is in line with his career plans and future planned timeline.

Every time a job opens you act like terrified children and start coming up with completely made up rationales of why he wouldnt leave.

Rationales which are basically meaningless, because you don’t know what his career plans or what his thought process are in managing his career.

Relax and enjoy the games. If he leaves, he’s not the only innovative offensive mind on the college football landscape that’s a fit. Trust that.

If this year has shown anything, it’s shown that this is an excellent destination and/or stepping stone for offensive minds to get in some awesome lab experiments and put up even more gaudy numbers.

What innovative offensive mind wouldn’t want to work in this lab?

We gonna **** our pants every time a job comes open?
He has done a nice job at UM and we’ve put up big numbers against some pretty weak defenses. Clemson suffocated his plan, Virginia was a struggle and so on. I don’t see him getting a HC gig anywhere this year unless he wants a job a bunch of people say no to with a pay cut. He is not a highly sought after commodity in the HC business

Blake Baker is available
On the real though, I wouldn't be shocked if Baker was an attractive candidate for a program like this. They're not going to get top tier coaching candidates. They'll have to reach and take a shot on some candidates like Blake.

On paper, our numbers are pretty good and their fanbase can get hyped on the "turnover chain swag" that he'd bring.
