Complaint against our players by AppState Color Guard

I still can't believe the media (yes I can) isn't bringing up the fact (Matt Porter, I know you're out there reading this) that she admitted that she (and presumably the rest of the band/color guard) was told beforehand (probably by the band director or some official) that Miami was known for this behavior.

This is the biggest hangup for me. IF this part is true - that the BAND DIRECTOR "warned" the band that Miami is known for this behavior, he needs to be taken to task because either 1) he was making up rhetoric to scare his students or worse 2) he actually thought something might happen and did NOTHING to scheme around it by moving his students out of "harm's way."

If the director seriously thought ahead of time that his students might in any way be in danger from a visiting team's run-on - and did nothing to prevent it - that's horribly negligent.

There's no way anything can cime if this unless there's a video up closer than what we've seen. You still have to prove intent of the players to run over them, which didn't happen. They used the term grope, I don't think you can grope someone while running into the field and not miss a stride.

First, in Porter's article the accuser's account of the incident changes from assaulted and groped to harrassed and interrupted. Video evidence does not support her account of the incident. Porter's reporting amounts to nothing more than hearsay, which is bad journalism at its core. The accuser said members of the Color Guard were groped and assaulted. Responsible journalist are fact finders. These are the questions Matt Porter should be asking the pseudo (victim) How many members of the Color Guard were groped and assaulted? Where exactly did this occur? When exactly did this occur? Where were you when this occurred? Are you aware there's video footage of UM's football team taking the field? Who told you UM was known for this kind of behavior? That's how you break a story not with rumors, hearsay and innuendo.

I doubt it was that malicious - more like they were "warned" and so the kids closest to the team created a false narrative in their brains as to what to expect...

Either way, if the band director was actually expecting trouble and DIDN'T move his students out of the way for pre-game, he's an idiot.

But this may have been like one of those nuisance lawsuits that you just pay off. If you get it to stop with a "if you were offended or contacted in anyway we apologize for your distress" - then maybe that was the thinking, just send a generic apology and be done with it forever.
