Since many are on a ‘Manny’s Replacement‘ kick, and it’s late, I thought I’d get thoughts on UAB HC Bill Clark and Coastal Carolina HC Jamey Chadwell. Some have one or both of these names as ‘persons of interest’.

Would it concern you neither has any connection to P5-level college football, nor does anyone on their staffs? No guarantee or rule they’d bring anyone on their staffs, but HCs often bring in others they’ve worked with or against.

I know coaching is a small world, but as well-thought of as both these coaches may be I’d be concerned Miami would be staffed with assistants without any major college football experience.

Both of them are 25x better compared to Manny. Both of them scheme and coach their players up and bring to perform at their highest level.

Coastal Carolina was a 3-9 football team in their conference when Chadwell took over. UABs program was literally dead in the mid 2010s.

Dont tell me about these coaches and how they dont have major college experience. They have made low-tier programs into football teams that compete for top-25 rankings.

They should be on the short list but if we’re being real then Tom Allen of Indiana would need to tell us no first imo. He started his coaching career in central Florida and he actively recruit this area.

He would fit the “Doesn’t put up with ****” hard *** this school needs. Other than that Bill would be my preference. That UAB team couldn’t even win a half of football before he got there.

Calm down or your T-level might get above 100.

The point isn’t to compare either to Manny. Both Clark and Chadwell have done excellent jobs. Rising from a mid-minor level to the ACC or any P5 conference team is not only an jump in player talent, but coaching talent as well. Everybody got wet when T-Rob and the LB coach (who split for a DC promotion) from Auburn was hired. Experienced P5 assistants.

Not a deal-breaker for either by any means.

Just a discussion point.

Well, the ACC is the next step. Some coaches go from Boise State to Auburn for example. The jump is not the problem. There are a lot of coaches who have started at low tier programs being the head coach. In fact, at those lower tier programs, I can guarantee you you might learn a thing or two more about team cohesion, getting coached up well and scheming well compared to a program that is more talented than others but fails to meet expectations all the time.

Urban Meyer was the HC at Bowling Green, went to Utah and then went to Florida. Nick Saban was the Head Coach at Toledo at one point. Heck, Mario coached at FIU as a HC and now just upset Ohio State with Oregon. Matt Campbell coached at Toledo as well, went to Iowa State and turned that program around. Being good at a low-tier level with a team that isnt supposed to be that good at that level is a really good sign that the head coach in question is good.

Dont hire a coach because he just coached at high level programs. Hire a coach based on his successes and failures given the circumstances that he was dealt with.

Both Clark and Chadwell are overperforming with their teams based on the talent they have and the circumstances they are under. The fact that Grayson McCall, a two star-prospect being 20 years old, is capable of executing a more complex option offense compared to the stuff we run with KIng at a much higher level speaks volumes for the player itself, the players around him and the coaching staff coming up with the scheme and preparing the players.

Both guys would be massive upgrades compared to Manny. To me, thats not even worthy of a discussion. You eiher hire these two or an assistant from a top level program who knows what a top tier college football team should look like.

Can we just call Tom Allen first? He’s doing that same thing but in a P5 conference.

No argument. Everyone starts somewhere.

If I appear leery of either it’s because we’ve also seen lower-tier wonders bust at the higher levels. Al Golden comes to mind. He made Temple respectable, or so some believed. His win/loss record was padded by a drop from the BE to the MAC, but Temple was god awful before.

I like either coach. I’d like to see CC play an elite team, like Clemson up the road (or down, or west). Not that I’d expect CC to beat Clemson but to gague how Chadwell and his team handle that bright spotlight. They could lose by 35 and still be prepared and play hard, but just overmatched on pure talent.

UGA beat UAB today, 56-7, and called off the dawgs, no pun intended. Clark and staff and team could have been prepared for anything and everything and it still would not have mattered.

The problem is we keep seeing Miami as just a coach away we need to see Miami as a dumpster fire who needs shard nose coach who will do the dirty work, Manny is too nice, sorry to say but the closest person to me was coach Shannon but we didn’t give him the opportunity to do so but we can find it i think, if the BOT wants too

Shannon was a hard *** but he couldn't coach. That was his problem

Would be good, but Allen makes like five million a year and has a massive buyout. I dont think that marriage will end any time soon, considering Allen has signed a 7-year-deal to remain with the program.

Al Golden never had the success either Clark or Chadwell have right now, especially with the circumstances around. Golden had two winning campaigns in five seasons.

Yes, because UGA has a talent gap about as big as the Grand Canyon compared to a college that is paying his HC 550k per year. We had enough trouble with UAB last season.

Joe Moglia as AD is the key.

THAT is who built the Chanticleers.

He has a remarkable story and perspective.

Chadwell is merely the designed output of Moglia's "Toyota LEAN" coaching system.

If he were 20 years younger, I believe he would set dynasty records that would make Saban look like Ron Zook.

The team is a dumpster fire because the fire causing everything is Blake James…. He’s a god **** broiler to Miami sports

Go get Kiffin. If you give Kiffin Jake Garcia, with what we have at receiver and running back, we have the top offense in the ACC easily.
I’d be more than Happy to give Kiffin a chance over Manny. Would have made so much more sense and still does if Mario won’t take the spot but if we decide to can Manny, you have to make Mario tell you no before moving in on Kiffin.
