Comment from a long time NFL reporter

Isn't Bill the defensive guy? Dawson put him in a blender and scored **** near every possession.
What Dawson did to BB’s defense isn’t being talked about much because of the performance of our defense. Rightly so, our defense is getting all the attention because it wasn’t good and needs adjustments ASAP.

I understand our frustration with the D the last two games but the "reporter" needs to understand that football is a three phase game with defense only being one of them. We have Mali playing on two of the three and so I feel we are still well positioned for the rest of the season. ****, if I was a coach I would line him up in the defensive backfield a few times just to throw the fear of God into other teams.......................

Deep Blue’s analysis of Ole Billy Boy (defensive point of view)…I’m too tired, disinterest and not a fan to pick it apart, so have at it, this is a one and done.

Belichick had UNC's worst season in 8 years. In the offseason, his DC (son) and GM (friend) quit in disgrace. His QB, Gio Lopez, left to an in-state rival and became a star. And Belichick's current team has lost 4 of its last 6.

That's not a rebuild. That's turning a middle-of-the-pack program into a disaster.
That disaster of a program came within three points of beating a much more talented team and mostly cooked our *** on one side of the ball. So what does that make us? We aren't calling that a fluke, right?

Without a doubt his dumbest decisions were hiring his cronies to positions of power and he deserves A TON of blame for that. And you are right, his ego may not let him do what is right for the program and he could retire in two years without building squat.

But we are not about to pretend that North Carolina isn't in a better spot than they were last year. If they go 7-6 this year, his record after two seasons will be nearly identical to Mario's here. They signed a Top 20 recruiting class (quantity over quality) and the two-deep is filled with underclassmen.

The bias is showing here.

So now the standard is that he should’ve turned UNC around 1 year because you believe he had enough money to do so? And the failure to do so makes him a bad coach?

Mario Cristobal, at a much more well-resourced program, went 5-7 with a home loss to middle Tennessee in his 1st year. A few short years later, he was playing for a natty.

Like Cristobal, Belichick heal was hired in December, and didn’t have an opportunity to bring in his own guys. How much money he had to spend at that point was irrelevant- he missed the transfer window (for all intents and purposes).

Mack brown went 6-7 and that got him fired. Wikipedia says 52 players from that team then transferred or declared that offseason. Belichick went 4-8 the next season off the aforementioned short offseason. That is year 1 of a rebuild. Now they are over the win total and on the right trajectory.

Brady bs belichick? Brady. The proof is in the pudding. But to pretend belichick doesn’t belong in a league with Fran brown and tosh lapoi as HCs is laughable.
The narrative cherry picking without acknowledging that this is almost exactly the same trajectory that Mario was on at this point in his Miami career is baffling.

I grew up in New England as a Miami Dolphins fan. No one has rooted against Belichick as hard as I have. His genius is absolutely overrated because he had Tom Brady. His decision to hire his son and bring in Lombardi was awful. Truly awful.

But UNC is headed in the right direction in Year 2, nearly knocked off a much more talented No. 1 team in the country and suddenly our fanbase is taking victory laps because our offense dominated a defense where 14 of the 22 guys on the two-deep are underclassmen. We sure showed him!

Thank you for being the voice of reason.

Every statement you make makes our performance even worse

Belichicks's biggest mistake was surrounding himself with his cronies. (and his GF & family)

He underestimated how difficult it was going to be to win in college
He probably also assumed his name would be attractive to assistants. But his age means he could quit at any time, and he had no prior experience in the college game. Unless UNC is offering tremendous compensation, I don't see it as a particularly attractive destination for assistants. His name isn't the resume-builder he thinks it is, especially in the college game (where more of the assistants are likely to come from and and move to).

Tyler Van Dyke was being touted by many as the projected number 1 pick. Mario Cristobal called him the best QB in the nation at his introductory press conference if memory serves me. He flamed out under Mario. Sometimes things don’t click, like in the case of gio lopez and BB.

I’m going to reiterate what I said about expectations. The guys that bet into the markets that set win totals and point spreads are very good at what they do. UNC will clear its season win total and are 5-3 ATS. They are exceeding expectations set for them. Go back and see how Miami has fared in that department for the past 25 years.

Bill came with his GUCCI luggage n here yall are giving him bail...unlike someone from Fort Myers who coaches on the west coast.

I mean, Miami's roster has to be one of the 10 most expensive in the entire country and I have no idea but I cannot imagine that North Carolina is spending the same amount. At quarterback alone Miami has to be spending 4-5x what UNC is spending.
