Hey all,

Myself and two others have got seats to the game against Florida Atlantic. We're here on vacation but wanted to catch a game.

Can anyone tell me if people tailgate at the stadium, are you allowed to drink outside the stadium? and do they serve alcohol inside the stadium?

Any good bars nearby for before and after? We're going to uber from our downtown hotel, and probably hit Tootsies after the games, apparently it has to be seen when you visit Miami.

My main concern is the tailgate party and any tips to make the game even more fun?

Thanks

Tim

Booze outside and inside is available. Outside in the parking area are the tailgates with private individuals bringing booze. You can't take it inside. Several places to buy drinks inside.

Where are you from in Ireland?

Word of advice: in the parking lots, mind your p's and Q's around juanfromhialeah

If you want excitement, hitchhike down 27 ave to the game if you are coming from Miami. If you are staying in Ft Lauderale, maybe Broward Blvd west to 441 and then south -- that might turn up so thrills. As to drinking, in America today I think you are allowed to drink at games if you are Moslem, but otherwise Irishmen can drink only water. You are viewed as to risky.

Echo this sentiment. Steer clear of the Blue Lot and #switchbladelifebro

if you're from Ireland, why don't you have an accent?

Ah gerreaway outta dat

Yes to the tailgating/drinking and alcohol sales in the stadium.

Thansk lad!

Thanks for that, ah yeah figured you couldn't bring it inside!

I'm from Wicklow, little south of Dublin. You been?

I know Hialeah is a predominately Cuban area!? is it a joke, or should I be looking out for my safety? haha

I always pack extra P's & Q's with me, so there shouldn't be an issue!!

Thanks, will google map all that, staying downtown Miami I think! not booked yet, but downtown interests me more than the beach.

Hey man, none of that... IrishLivesMatter... jk I'll bring my qu'ran.

Blue lot, gotcha! My first stop will be at a gun store, so I can get a gun to fit in with locals, jokes will be on Juan for bringing a knife to a gunfight.

Hopefully going to the republic within the next couple of years, preferably in the summer. Always wanted to.

If you're really from Ireland (we get a lot of trolls around here), you'll make some friends. It will be safe so no worries. The only problems are usually at games like FSU where emotions are high and you'll get jerk FSU fans (and some canes fans) looking for slap fights. But even then, it's the few jerks looking for trouble and it's very safe. At the FAU game you'll get very little passion or emotion like that.

Back in the good old days in the Orange Bowl, half the fun was watching the terrified faces of the opposing fans trying to get into the stadium, especially at night. If you didn't park right around the Bowl, the walk in could be eventful. I hated paying to park in someone's yard, so I parked close to NW 22nd ave for Dolphins and Canes. Part of the game experience you never forget.

All kidding aside, enjoy the game and stay safe. If you are Irish, you will be fine -- Irish love of a good drunken brawl will serve you well.

Sweet, make sure to check out the Wicklow mountains, you can do a day trip from Dublin, where presumably you'd be flying into and staying. It would be a crime not to visit the Galway/Cliffden area and the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare, I'm from the East Coast, but always tell tourists to head out west for at least a couple of days, thats where the real scenery is and the fields with walls made of stone etc... the stereotypical Hollywood view of the Irish country side.

Definitely not trolling my man, would I do that to you??

Understood about the big games, its like that with Football (soccer) over here.

Conor McGregor?

Nah I'm far more efficient with my energy.

Wicklow mountains... Is it where Guinness beer factory is getting water from?

A few weeks ago I was in Dublin for one night and it was nice.

Ah jaysus imagine that? small world huh? Love Galway, best city in Ireland.

Seeing that our schools colors are the same as your country's flag, they're possibly could be more Irish Cane fans over there. Welcome.

Best advice anyone here is going to give you is to allocate at least $1000 US for sunscreen expenditures ya pasty fu<ks!

Second best advice will be to stop by the Green Lot if you're truly professional drinkers.

First I want to welcome a Cane's fan from Ireland. Yes to tailgating, show some Irish gear and many will welcome you to drink with them--I would. Yes to alcohol sales inside stadium, bring only your ticket, a hat, raincoat, and binoculars (not necessary). The stadium is not surrounded by worthwhile, if any, bars, but there are sports bars in nearby Davie that would be fun. Knowing Miami traffic taking Uber to the stadium sounds like a potential nightmare, renting a car with GPS is a better option. Odds finding fans in a hotel in Fort Lauderdale/Miramar/Davie/Weston area are greater than downtown Miami. If you think driving in heavy traffic on the "wrong" side of the road might be an issue maybe you can catch a ride with out of town Canes. Personally I don't see any reason to stay in downtown Miami at all, Fort Lauderdale is a much better option and people are more likely to speak English--book now.

I keep seeing posts about blue lot and thugs, don't know how much substance there is to that. Over the years I've parked all around the stadium and never saw a problem. Those who could potentially be difficult tend to make themselves very visible.

Find out when the stadium gates open and arrive way early. I have Ireland on my bucket list in the next couple of years. Plan on attending a local football (soccer) game hopefully. Hope your visit to South Florida is memorable.
