Colorado sucks…

Those are excuses for Deion’s poor recruiting, at least it smells like excuses to me. It’s been a long since CU was a major power on a national scale, but in my lifetime they’ve been a top tier program. They used to clean up in Southern California, specifically San Diego, Texas and Louisiana, all urban and all warm. Deion is just a lazy, arrogant and indifferent recruiter. There’s no other way to call it. Who the **** is elitist to refuse making in-home and at school recruiting visits. I’ve never heard of such ****ery, the results have shown that his approach hasn’t worked. Colorado isn’t a hotbed, sure, but he’s a legend, he could clean up in Texas and Florida if he put in the work, but he seems stubborn and disinterested.

They had some pretty good teams in the 1970s too. Lou Saban's first game as the UM HC was at Colorado and if I recall the Buffs were heavily favored. We had a bunch of talented freshmen like Lester Williams, David Jefferson, Fred Marion, Mark Richt. Mark Cooper plus upperclassmen OJ Anderson, Jim Burt, and Don Smith on the team but we couldn't beat Colorado. But every time they've been talented they've been dinged with NCAA issues (or so it seems).
As others have noted, it's a pretty campus in a beautiful setting. I have a relative who is a Physical Trainer at the school and she loves out there.
This is a school with a lot of pluses, but the coaches have to work their tails off to get recruiting right.

Every single person I’ve ever met that went to, the school absolutely raves about it. The culture, the people, the actual school / academics, all of it. Seems like a great place.

It’s also pretty cool because it receives more NASA astrophysics technology research grants than any other school. Also, through its Laboratory for Atmospheric Space Physics (LASP), CU has sent an instrument to every planet in the solar system AND is the only university in the world to have done so.

I worked 18 years at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center and worked with many astronomers and scientists who studied and/or taught at Colorado. Alot of folks from that school and Ohio State and some with links to both schools.
As you noted, they have a good school in the physical sciences

May I ask what you did there? Engineering?

Coach Sanders could have had that roster littered with blue chips but took the easy way out thinking he could be the portal king.

He’s landed multiple 5 stars (not all have worked out of course) without even trying other than saying “I’m Coach Prime”. If he put even 50% effort into recruiting, he could have had the most talented roster in the big12 until TT started dropping oil bags.

Long (boring) story in a nutshell.
I move to the Maryland area to study Computer Sciences at the University of Maryland. I needed to pay for schooling so I landed job for a NASA contractor which paid tuition. At the beginning I was a glorified computer operator doing data capture for Shuttle support and other missions. Later worked on contract for International Ultraviolet Explorer (IUE) where I supported astronomers and physicists as well as the visiting scientists doing observations on the IUE. Got to meet and support many of these folks I would later see and read about, especially Black Hole stuff which was big at the time. One of the persons which I worked for actually went on a Shuttle mission as a Scientist. Later I moved on to software and system testing of satellite and Mission Control software, especially Y2K stuff which was big at the time (I'm old. Lol). Interesting work environment. The vibe at NASA was like a big college campus with 40 plus buildings. Nothing corporate at all although the big contractors ran much of the work. Alot of the scientists and astronomers were "out there". They were the type you would see at a Grateful Dead concert. Being a Miami kid, I found this interesting (lol). One of my biggest regrets was not taking advantage of learning more about NASA's work and what many of the scientists and astronomers were doing, as I was too busy with school life, consuming, analyzing and testing data and test results and, of course, competing in the various NASA softball and soccer leagues ...lol.
Anyways, apologies for long and winded response.

Fun fact I was actually involved in the project that probed Uranus

the guy literally thought he could recruit by literally never doing home visits. As if a complete team was just going to come to him without any real effort...

Agreed. I know the hatred for Sanders runs deep here and I get it

I’ve seen him speak a few times and a friend of a friend is in his circle. I’ve met him (sort of) and he’s just one of those people you can see people gravitate towards. Dudes got aura no matter what we think about him. Felt more like he was just wanting to be around his kid and was hoping to be successful and move on to the NFL or a bigger job when Shadeur graduated. Could be wrong there but I dunno.

That wasn't boring at all, thx for that very long response.

Never cared for Sanders because, to me, he was one of the faces of the Noles.
Of course, I respected the fact that he was a great football player and, overall, an incredible athlete.
However, the Michael Irvin interview with Sanders where they chatted about his health situation was an eye-opener. It softened my attitude on him. He is an unhealthy dude.
I feel sorry for him but perhaps it is me mellowing over time.
He should retire, but that it is his personal decision.
The leadership at CU should approach him on this if they haven't already.

I always felt the same, and I think a lot of others did too. Unfortunately, it seems his health issues may hinder his NFL coaching dreams. He's still accomplished amazing things in his lifetime.

Yeah I’ll never want to put myself in a “defend Deion” camp. That stuff is weird anyway I don’t know the guy. Just saying I get why he’s so polarizing to recruits and parents and also see why that makes people so angry as well. The man loves him some Jesus as well that’s always something that gets people in their feelings.

Facts, as a person that has had health problems since 11 I never want to see someone go through **** like that. Like him or not I hope he enjoys his family and puts up one **** of a fight to keep pushing.

I’ve never felt any king of way about Deion, don’t love him, don’t hate him. Haven’t posted much about him that I can recall.

As said previously, he was an incredible near-freakish athlete who also happens to have a magnetic personality. Colorado is a program that has very little impact on us whether they’re good or not good, so I really don’t care that much about them, although it’s a nice campus in a beautiful state.

I can relate to him as a father and as a human being, and I sympathize with his health issues. I respect the fact that he’s trying to grind even with what are probably very significant post cancer surgery issues. We are all going to be there at some point in our lives.
