This is your opinion not a fact. Plus it hasn’t been around that long enough. I’m sure there are way more programs struggling with majority hs recruits than transfers. Like I said earlier, Bill Schnieder was successful at KState with Juco players. Whats the difference with the portal? Last year Ole Miss, Tx State, SMU, & FSU were all successful with transfers. For some schools that’s their best option. Especially now when coaches only get 3 years maybe 4 max.

Of course there’s better transfer players available now than before when you’d have to sit out a year. That doesn’t mean it’s not mostly cast-offs or small school guys trying to move up. The handful of proven stars are pretty much just looking for NIL money and apparently unless your last name is Sanders, Colorado isn’t offering much that way.

Look at the teams at the top of the high school recruiting rankings. Pretty much a who’s who of the top programs in the country. Now look at the teams at the top of the transfer rankings. It’s a bunch of mediocre programs picking up the scraps the top teams don’t want.

Honestly, that's why those 2nd and lower tier teams have to acquire talent in order to compete with the big dogs.

Dude, he signed a 5 player class.
There is no way any of this is sustainable.
The Dieon hype has died down and too many schools are going to be competing for players in the portal. I think it’s only going to get worse for Dieon.

It needs to play out first. I don’t understand the entire sustainability narrative. Y’all act like all programs are the same and theres only one successful strategy. HS recruits are not going to build a program that avg like 2 wins for the past 4-5 years. He isn’t at an Alabama or UGA where he is in contention for every 4 & 5 star recruit. Let’s keep it real, he has to win now. Even here Shannon got 4 years, Golden got 5, Richt was felt pressured to leave after 3, and Manny got 3. Deion has to win now or he is out. No amount of hs recruits can fix that right away.

Do you really believe that by taking like 15 to 20 portal kids or more every year you’re gonna win?
You really gonna believe that all of a sudden he’s gonna start attracting top five classes, knowing that he’s quick to just cut you and embarrass you publicly?

Maybe nobody’s realize it yet but talent evaluation is difficult at every level and just because a player has a good year doesn’t mean he’s going to continue to ball out.
He already went all out on the transfer portal and could barely win 4 games.
He took his best player and was gassing him every **** game making him play both ways.
His son was getting destroyed cause had no online.
What elite transfer portal players are gonna want to go there?
He should’ve started from the get go telling everybody it’s gonna be rebuilding and that it’s gonna take time. But instead he went out there and convinced everybody and finessed everybody to give them a lot of money. You go on Colorado boards and on their Twitter accounts and they were convinced they were gonna make the playoffs.
If anybody set themselves up for failure, it was Dion and not the other way around.

It’s scary. People idolizing people in power way too much. It’s widening the gap between poor&middle….rich bc people keep giving them their money. Consumers mindset.
 
He has sold the fans and media a bill of goods. The big turnaround going from 1 win to 4 seems like a big improvement until you look at Colorado’s records prior to 2022. They also won 4 games in 2021. They won 4 games in 2020 OUT OF FIVE TOTAL. All the hype, bringing in all those transfers, bringing his sons, kicking all the former players off the team that was just to get them right back to where they were two years ago. It’s a huge con job designed to improve his personal brand and his sons’ brands. And it’s worked. There’s already NFL teams taking about hiring him. His sons are on national TV commercials. Meanwhile Colorado, a team that has averaged 4.4 wins over the last decade is no better than they’ve been.

I can't remember which insider wrote that Deion wasn't willing to put in the work when it came to recruiting, but that struck me as a guaranteed sign he'd eventually fail. 99% of the time, that's the death knell of any HC in college football.

On the other hand, Deion has already taken 16 portal kids. He has clearly decided that he will can build a team of transfers and win. We see that happen in So FL among high schools. Can he replicate that in college and be the 1% exception? Seems like buying a lottery ticket to me.

The possibility the NCAA reinstates the 25 scholarship annual limit and he is left with a roster of 50 one year. Other than that he will keep portaling people in and out

They loss by average margin of like 7 to 10 ppg mostly because they sucked on the line. He’s getting transfers with mostly 3 years remaining. That’s not a 1 year rental. If he took mostly hs kids if would be the same or probably worse. Outside a few kids, Colorado is not getting the best hs prospects. Getting transfers with 2-4 year s remaining is not a bad idea.

I don’t care what the fans expected. Every fanbase expects to go undefeated every year; I mean just look at us. That being said, no one who seriously watches college football thought Colorado was going to make the playoffs. I legit predicted them to win 4-5 games and most people did. I don’t think Colorado will ever win a championship but 8-9 wins is good for them. Lance Kiffin took mostly transfers (not including Juco) last year and pulled off 10 wins.

He’s not taking all 1 year rentals. A lot of them have multiple years remaining. And I don’t think he lost that many people to the portal this year at least not like last year. It was like 80 or something last year. Like I said earlier, what he’s doing is no different than Schnieder at KState back in the day. He took mostly Juco guys. Now instead of Juco they get portal kids. I don’t think he’ll ever win a championship but this is good for potentially 8-9 wins.

Yup. Deion would've been a complete dumb a s s for not exploiting another talent pool like the portal. What gets me, is some of these same people criticize Dabo for not taking advantage of the portal LOL. The portal has expedited job security for coaches, the days of waiting 4-5 years for a new coRch to at least show improvement are over.

Exactly! They act like he’s missing out on an opportunity to pull Bama type classes and in the same breath they criticize Dabo and some criticize Cristobal on misses/not taking full advantage of the portal. Dude may pull in a couple 4 or 5 stars here or there but he doesn’t have the time or reputation to get a class full. His best route is to go to the portal.
