Colorado collapse

Deons problem is he's talented and thinks that it's just certain level of simple. The truth is teaching is difficult. Often as a teacher you have to take the path that seems like a waste of time to get enough people on board. The average college graduate is still pretty stupid. These athletes that get academic passes to go to college are typically even worse than that.

If you don't believe me then become a teacher or take a job where you deal with the public. Your life will become a never-ending facepalm that will force you to grow patience.

Its premature, because it's only early signing day and stuff can change. Also, you didn't mention how he addressed his team weaknesses in the transfer portal.

In this current era of college football, high school recruiting is considered half in acquiring talent. Therefore, you'll need to factor in the transfer portal to get the full picture.

In Deion current situation, he needs players that can contribute immediately. And, the transfer portal is his best option.
To win big in CFB you need good Hs recruiting. It made sense going heavy on transfers last year but this year should been maybe split 50/50. He’s going to fail if he can’t recruit a legit high school class next year.

Agreed. However, he's going to have a harder time getting those blue chips through hs recruiting than the transfer portal.

To me, it looks like he's having more success in portal than hs recruiting.

It’s not that, when u have the attitude you’re larger than your players it won’t work with most kids. You have to kiss their *** and if you do not you not getting them. And you have to be fair across the board, if you show cracks in the armor that you have favoritism (all coaches do) and you reveal it you are ****ed. Cause once word gets around bruh recruits don’t give a **** who you are it’s their time your time has passed.

The thing about portal blue chips is that they’re almost always damaged goods. Guys in the portal usually fall into one of two groups: Guys who are dominating at a lower level and want to prove themselves against better competition or guys who flopped at big schools and are looking to step down in competition. Javion Cohens are incredibly rare. Guys who are starting and playing well for a big time program usually don’t transfer.

Holy **** Deion failed so hard in recruiting… class ranking #98 and the 5 star OT they got to commit didn’t sign. They only signed 5 kids 🤯
Impossible!! Can’t be true. Must be misprint.
According to many on this board, Primetime da Gawd gets whom ever he wants. One of the greatest recruters, coach and leader of young men ever.
ESPN and the Dieon ****riders are never wrong.

The caliber of the player's that transfer now are vastly better than it was before the portal became a thing.

There's just too many to name.

Exactly for what he’s trying to do he needs transfers. HS isn’t going going to help him win now and if he has a couple more seasons like last year he wouldn’t even see the HS athletes develop under him because he would be fired. I don’t see how anyone can say hs is the only way to win in this era. For a school like Colorado, they aren’t battling for many 4&5 stars and even that you’re not going to get a class where everyone will hit the ground running. Back in the day Schnieder built a strong program at KState through Juco. This is basically the same except instead of 2 years remaining, some of Colorado’s transfers have 2-4 years remaining.

I don’t think this is true. Look at Kyle McCord, kid had a great season but he maybe the 4th or 5th best transfer in the portal with like 5 more talented kids behind him. Kids are transferring for a multitude of reasons. All-American and all-conference athletes are hitting the portal. The pool is deeper now. For schools like Colorado, that may work for them. More schools like FIU and FAU should hit it harder too.

That's part of the difficulty in teaching.

The only problem with this strategy is that it’s unproven to work. Usually you don’t want a team full of transfers because most transfers are about themselves and not the program. You usually want to have a core of players from the high school ranks who are somewhat loyal and willing to sacrifice. A portal player that is on the bench won’t care about the program and want to transfer again.
