College Gameday just campaigned for Butch

everyone wants miami back except miami and the sec, this is the way and everyone with a fkin brain knows it

Miami BoT, Admin and SEC only ones wanting to keep the U down.

The enemy within.

as a fanbase we cant let them toy with us and tell us anyone else is qualified, its bs there trying to tame us. we have to put full court press about butch and lettem have it till they give us our glory back. i have no doubt in my mind he brings us back no fkin doubt at all, anyone else i doubt except saban jim n ***. butch is the most qualified and perfect fit, kids know him and he knows them.

Says it would be quickest fix and that's he's done it before... THEY ALL WANT BUTCH BACK.. Said it will be great

for the program and great if Miami's back.. And that it would create incredible buzz for the program.. All I gotta say is BBB

I'm surprised there hasn't been more mention of Doc Holliday or Kirby Smart.

I am not. Kirby is not qualified. Doc (58 yo) has an advantage at Junior College Marshall with recruiting.

There is a reason they're not mentioned.

Hmmm exactly how many 4 and 5 star studs does Marshall have again??? Ridiculous statement to make, by your reasoning, Saban is a good coach only because he gets all the 4 and 5 star talent he wants. IT has nothing to do with his coaching ability huh!!

Butch Davis to Miami would create ‘incredible buzz,’ ESPN commentators say

By Matt Porter

DURHAM, N.C. — UM Athletics Director Blake James isn’t saying much about the school’s coaching search. His list of candidates isn’t known, so it’s unclear if Butch Davis is even in the running.
But Davis is a popular choice among fans, and their movement to “Bring Back Butch” to Miami gained a few national voices on Saturday.

Commentators on ESPN’s College GameDay, the wildly popular college football morning show, universally agreed that the Hurricanes would do well to re-hire Davis when they debated the coaching search.

A vocal segment of Hurricanes fans wants Butch Davis to return to the 'U'.

“You’re asking me as an alum? I think the quickest fix, in order to get back closest to what they could be, is Butch Davis,” said producer Chris “The Bear” Fallica, a 1993 UM graduate.

Davis, who coached UM from 1995-2000, went 51-20 before leaving to coach the NFL’s Cleveland Browns. He hasn’t coached since 2011, when he was fired from North Carolina amid academic scandal. He was never implicated in the scandal and even has a letter from the NCAA clearing him of any wrongdoing. Davis, who turns 64 on Nov. 17, lives in Bonita Springs and has a weekend gig as an ESPN analyst.

On Sunday, UM fired Al Golden after he went 32-25 in four-plus seasons. Monday morning, Davis stated on a Miami radio station his desire for the now-open job.

“He’s been there before,” Fallica said. “He knows the ins and outs of the program. Usually I hate the old crutch, ‘We need to keep it in the family,’ but I think that what happened there the last time around, I think all the money people, the alumni, the fans down there, are going to want somebody like Butch, like [Greg] Schiano, or [Mario] Cristobal, someone like that who is familiar with the program.”

“I live down there. That’s what I keep hearing, too,” said analyst Desmond Howard, a South Florida resident. “The radio people are talking about Butch Davis a lot. They want him there.”

Added analyst Kirk Herbstreit: “I would love to see Butch Davis back to Miami. It’d be pretty sweet.”
“It would create an incredible buzz,” Howard said. “People would come to the games – instantly.”

Well I don't trust ESPN but Butch does work there so might just be a homer pick. We need this tho

I'm surprised there hasn't been more mention of Doc Holliday or Kirby Smart.
The fact that some people endorse Cristobal and Kiffin because of their limited time around Saban and dismiss Smart is mind blowing

Yeah...I still don't understand that logic.

I don't understand the logic of endorsing anyone just because they work under a great HC. All the bums from the Belichick tree who failed miserably should make people think twice about the "great HC by osmosis" theory. Belichick might be the best HC in the history of football, and all his assistants fail as HCs even though they spend time around him.

Glad you noticed that. Paul Brown was an exception, but many all-time greats had great assistants who were not great HCs. But picking a good HC is so hard that those doing it fall back on that a lot. A proven great HC is rare. Joe Robbie gave Shula nice chuck of team, about 15%, to get him from the Colts. Redskins gave Vince about the same to get him out of retirement.

Agreed. If the best thing you can come up with about a guy is "uh, he spent a little time around Saban" well then you should probably move the **** on
