Colbie Young Portal

this is the dumbest narrative on CIS right now ^

rewatch the games, X balled out. consistently made tough catches, got open, got first downs when they were needed etc.

we have a first team all ACC WR with 1000 yards and you guys down play it every day. idk if it's stupidity or just hatred for TVD bleeding over... or something else

Who was the WR1 going into the season? How many times did TVD force the ball to his roommate in triple coverage? Pay attention! X is a good WR but he is not WR1 for Miami

Georgia tamper or did our former Miami alum now agent create the situation by shaking down our NIL COLLECTIVE? Asking for a ridiculous amount of NIL bump?

If you read between the lines that is what happened here imo.

You may be right. But seriously, WGAF? Young is not "all that". He's totally replaceable. The fact we told him take it or leave it strengthens, not weakens, our negotiating position longer term, too. So win/win. ... Now let's use that money on a legit WR1.

Does Young have a skillset that we could have included into the offense more? Yes.
Is he anywhere near a complete player at WR? No.
Would he have a prominent role on our 2024 team? Yes.
Is he irreplaceable? No. Not by a mile.

Get Trader in the weight room and put him out there. ****, Chance is a high floor guy who can probably hold up at the X, too. Just get a **** QB in and we'll be fine.

Facts!

Collie is nice and would have looked better with a solid QB who wasn’t afraid to throw to anybody except his roommate when coverage was tight.

It sucks but next man up. We have quality WRs but if you can pull a true #1 from the portal you take it.

If Colby was mad seeing X get all the targets wait till he sees the TEs and RBs get all the targets and he’s asked to block or run go routes to occupy a safety

This list is pretty stupid.. making a national name for themselves in spring practice? I'm pretty in-tune with college football nationally and I've heard of 3 of these guys. 1 because he played at Miami.. and haven't heard a thing about him at UGA. Josh Pate mentioned him on his show in 1 sentence. 2 more because Miami recruited/offered them (Red Morgan and Julian Sayin). I have only heard and seen things about Sayin. I vaguely remember Wesco from recruiting and Jaylin Lucas I'm guessing is the return specialist they got since he's listed as an ATH.

Clemson has hyped a different WR each off-season since Tee Higgins left begging one of them to take reign and become elite and it hasn't happened.

The most hyped guys that I have heard rave reviews thus far is: Garrett Nussmeier, Isaiah Bond, Cam Coleman, Elija Lofton, Boo Carter, and more and none of them mentioned here.

Wesco is their TF WR they got outta Texas, he was a high ranked 4-star/borderline 5-star. He played really well in their Spring game & has been having a good Spring.

PJ Woodland is a TF Corner who's excelling & adapted. He's taken to Coaching very well.

Lucas is the transfer RB they got from Indiana, he's a Louisiana kid with good speed.

Jerrod McCoy is the transfer CB Tenn got from Oregon ST, he had a really good Freshman season & is likely to be an All-conference player this season. Another Texas Corner doing well (what a shock, it's almost like that state has talent or something..). But he was one of the biggest pick ups from the Winter Portal.

Hope we have a plan to replace Colbie Young. Word is UGA is utilizing him properly and like what they see out of him as an intermediary/deep perimeter threat (not dumb bubble screens, actually getting him downfield and letting him use his body in contested situations). Interested to see how he does this year, I’m pretty high on Carson Beck but Colbie’s knock was usually not being physical enough when called upon. Seems like he’s taken that to heart (in the Spring at least).

I know he wanted more NIL and that’s really why we let him walk, but I do hope we have some potential targets that could fill in his role.

His route running ability is some of the worst I’ve ever seen a miami receiver show in games. Made Langham look like amari cooper. There’s an argument to be made that he just wasn’t happy here so gave no effort cause the ball wasn’t coming his way but we will know a lot more come this season that’s for sure.

He did look very choppy in and out of breaks, 100% spot on there. A lot of his production came from raw talent, so I’m guessing that’s what UGA sees and hoping that McClendon can get the most out of him.
