Sadly I think all we have is possession receivers.

Nobody can take the top off the defence - I assume K. Smith is our fastest WR and the UNC DBs had no trouble running stride for stride with him.
 
Young looks like he has the greatest upside out of any of the receivers. Tall, physical, caught the ball well with his hands and was supposed to be the guy to "take the top of the defense". As of right now, I'd say Key Smith 1A, Young 1B, Ladson 3 and Brashard 4. Brashard had a much better performance overall today. He just needs to be used in the correct spots. Young has the potential to really impact a game, if he can consistently do what he did today.

Our red zone playcalling should feature heavily: Young, Skinner, Mallory, Ladson & Smith. Get the ball to our taller players & we'll see massive improvement. It should always have featured that.

We should see a lot more of Young going forward. He has some serious potential.

And 5-8 yards on an out pattern is exactly the way we need to keep using him. I'm fine with that.
 
I thought when he signed in June we finally had a big body WR. He had offers from FSU, Tenn, Penn St, Pitt, VT and others so he wasn't unknown by teams. He showed yesterday he can catch with his hands. We signed him in June and yet it took almost 5 games for him to see field. Play everybody.

Yeah probably, but I don’t know what Mario does anymore. Probably too focused on our mediocre O Line he doesn’t realize there are other position groups. How else do the Iveys, Flaggs, Mallory, of the world sneak in there?

Not many of our guys have because we don’t throw vertically. Not enough anayways. TVD overthrows half of them

Should have went to Tenn. Their offense is what we should be running. Similar to the Briles Baylor offense. Modern wide splits to take defenders out of the box and open the run game and create 1 on 1 in the passing game. Turned Hendon Hooker from a VT castoff to a beast. Young would look nice catching those deep balls Tenn throws in 1 on 1 coverage
 
Hey, guy got a chance to make some plays and did. Lad stepped up a little too and so did brashard. On the flip side skinner got a chance to cement a flexed out role and reminded us why his snaps haven’t increased until arroyo was out

I thought we brought him in because of his size and raw potential. He was an unranked player when he signed, but had years of eligibility left, versus Ladson who has two I believe.

Footballville said Young has not looked anywhere near that good in practice. And we know Mario has said he does not use games to experiment with playing time for guys who don’t produce in practice. I guess he’s a gamer but I’m hoping he takes strong game performance to improve his practice performance.

spare me on experimenting when mallory and ivy have been costing on games for years.
