He held Mizzou to 164 total yards and 6 points yesterday. Their defense had a couple tough weeks but I expect them to finish as a top 20 defense again.

I actually wanted Leach years ago, but please do not compare him to Howard. Howard's resume was unbelievable including HC in NFL and OC of the ONLY undefeated perfect team in NFL history, and recruiting and coaching Joe Willie under the Bear. Miked scored a lot of points. JJ has serious pedigree also. You best comparison is Dennis. Please note however, Dennis's novelty offense stopped working when he ran out of JJ and Butch's recruits on defense. Mike's offense will never allow a good defense unless the defense is loaded in the way only Butch can recruit.

Jimmy Johnson was a head scratcher hire at first. His Okie State teams could not beat those Switzer led Sooner teams. But yet he was successful at Miami and the Dallas Cowboys.

You give a guy like Leach a top flight DCord, you will see Miami get back to being an elite program. I'd take Chip, Herman, Leach, or Gundy as the head coach. The next hire is very important. If they go cheap and have another dud, just fold the program because its not fair to watch a hasben football program like Miami play football.

Yeah it's common.....but not for a coach that I want taking over my team. You lose to an FCS team in year 4 of your coaching tenure at a Power 5 school, you deserved to be fired on the spot. Amen. People always complained about "if Marino" only had a good defense. The problem with Dan's defenses was Dan. He score fast or gave the ball back fast. Great defense starts with nice long time consuming drives. The No Name Dolphin defense was best ever PA until Ray's Ravens first Super Bowl. That is one **** of a long time to keep a record. Notice, those Ravens did not exactly have a all-time great QB.

If you have Leach or Kelly, do not expect a defense. History says so.

But some of you are hilarious that criticize coaching hire decisions, then turn around and go all in for Miami hiring Leach. LOL at him hiring a top notch defensive coordinator. Defense for the most part is what always separated his teams from being elite. All of a sudden he's going to come to Miami and get that right. GTFOH.

We were built on speed everywhere, strong running game with smart pocket passer and an aggressive attacking defense that brings fear to the field. Which of these coaching bring that? I'll agree with you on part of your post. But please don't EVER compare Mike Leach to Chip Kelly again ever. I understand what you're trying to say about the defense but Kelly is vastly superior to Leach in every way imaginable.

Serious question for you:

What makes you think Pruitt would be a better HC than Muschamp, or Chizik, or Bob Diaco?

All of those guys were regarded as legit DCs and recruiters, and all failed/are failing as HCs.

On that side of the ball, guys need lots of seasoning. Look at Dantonio, Narduzzi, and Stoops (all of them).

Pruitt seems way too young to get things figured out for an entire program, IMO.

Let me ask you something, caveman. Why hasn't anyone else thought of that? Why don't Baylor, TCU, Oregon, Houston, etc., just "hire a top flight DC"??? Here's the answer, not that you will understand it: you only get to the point of scoring 70 per game by putting 100% of your program's focus on offense.

You act like Art Briles is on one side of the practice field running the offense, and if they could just get a good DC, the other side of the field would be good too. The truth is that literally every waking moment goes into the offense. They don't care if they give up 58 to TCU as long as they score 60.

If your way worked, SOMEONE would have tried it. But no one has.
