Coaches get testy with reporters after loss: "Your opinion"

"Q: Overall, your thoughts after having time to digest the film, anything new you saw on film you have to work on this week?
"We obviously have to get better up front on the offensive line in terms of our protection. Even the times that they did drop eight and collapsed three they were able to collapse our pocket. Again, I mentioned last night just the penalty and just how untimely they were. But we took a lot of points off the board and a lot of scoring opportunities off the board. We have to get that fixed. Obviously we kicked the ball out of bounds and gave them a short field again. Jon's doing a good job kicking. He's just got to get the first one jitters out of the way and just relax and trust his leg there. Obviously the punt return was huge and something that when we have a punter of our caliber we have to do a better job protecting him and covering the punt. I mean there's other things. There's a lot of things.""

Not a word about the defense. Coley is very, very clearly in over his head and doesn't need to be an OC at a place like this but I don't know how he doesn't pop Al in the schnozz with this week-after-week pin-the-tail-on-the-offense blame game.

Yep, plus al will make sure to praise the defense even if they are horribly inconsistent.

Q: The other big pass breakdown one was on Corn Elder getting beat on the 52-yarder before Cincinnati's last touchdown. What happened?
"That was a tough one because I had just decided to kick the field goal there because at that point we had only allowed five yards to that point. 21 minutes into the second half, I think we had only allowed five yards. But I know it wasn't a significant number. I was basically telling the defense 'Hey I know I've got the wind now and we're going to get our three points here, kick it off, hold them and get the ball back around midfield.' If I'm correct the play it happened on it was 2nd and 8. It was a double-whammy. That one hurt."
Q: So basically, you were playing not to lose?

Q: You mention the wind a couple times. What were the conditions that the wind was a factor?
"Because I believed we wanted the wind in the fourth quarter, I chose to kickoff into the wind in the third quarter. Just because of the type of ballgame we were in. I knew it was going to be a four quarter game. So, from that standpoint if we were kicking towards our locker room the wind was going that way in terms of kickoffs and things of that nature and punts."

Q: Was it actually windy? I didn't notice it windy at all?
"Again, if that's your opinon, whatever. But I go by what the kickers tell me. From our standpoint, in terms of kickoffs and punts, it was definitely different going in one direction."

AL FOIL is a phuckin bicth a$$ pha99ot.....FOH

The defense pretty much shut down Cincy for the entirety of the 2nd half up until... Even still, UM defensive players keep sending Cincy 3 and out, or stop them on downs in the 2nd half. Then they take their seat on the bench to watch James Coley and his offensive players do their thing. What do Coley and his charges do...they don't shlt, wet the bed, and then the D players have to GET RIGHT BACK ON THE FIELD after they had just stopped Cincy Offense. Coley can't put NOTHING MORE THAN THREE (3) MEASLY POINTS for an entire half! I don't know, what freakin defense is gonna thrive when you keep them out expose all night long? Had Coley call better plays and scored 8 points or more in the 2nd half, then the Defense could have overcome the measly 7 points they stuck Cincy with for that 2nd half.

But ****, Dorito needs to kick ***** Coley right in the **** cause Coley is going to cost Dorito a shot at getting that Rutgers job. After all, if Dorito leaves first, Al won't be able to hang around UM without his butt buddy for one more period thereafter.

I pretty much agree with Canes2 on his post. Defense was doing a good job in the 2nd half. Only question I have is why did they wait to the 2nd half to start pressuring the freshman QB who looked like a freshman QB after the pressure? And yes, 3 points in the 2nd half is unforgivable. Coley has a habit of going home in the 2 half of games. I wish he would>>>permanently.

This mother ****er can sell anything! He should be on the top of the Mary Kay pyramid.

You guys give Al way too much credit. He ain't trying to sell shlt. He just doesn't give a Fvck...he lost a game, he knows he sucks and the reporters know he sucks... Al's not trying to make sense, just fvckig w/reporter. He thinks they fvck with him so he gives it "right backatchoo" whatever

The interviews over the next weeks are going to be comedic gold.

These guys don't risk it in early downs. We will run blitz a safety here and there but we hope the offense screws up on 1st and 2nd down to put them behind the sticks. In the first half I don't believe we had them in 3rd and long. They have been this way since they have been here. they have a system and they just play the same way every year no matter who the players are. They refuse to plan in a matter that just tries to take something completely away from the offense. The offense is allowed to call whatever they want. Therefore, when the offense needs a play in the fourth quarter against us, they feel real comfortable because most everything has been successful at some point through the game. They know exactly what we will call, what we will be aligned in.
