I want to believe in CMR, but I feel like everyone is falling into the same trap we fell into Golden by drinking the kool aid and not looking into the stats. I mean Golden was 27–34 at Temple before he was hired and nobody questioned the hire except Jason Whitlock (who everyone chastised at the time), yet he was 100% right.

To me it's just a statistic people overlook, Richts record against UF. In a lot ways we can argue FSU is better positioned than UF the next few years. If Richt went 5-10 against UF, how can we expect him to even have better odds against FSU?

If you're that "concerned" as a "Cane fan", then I would advise you run out to Sam's Club and purchase yourself 4 months supply of
tampons and leave this board to the rest of us Canes who want to enjoy this season.

We beat the Gators with Golden. Let that sink in.

Plus, these aren't your older brother's Gators. Richt went up against some of their best teams ever during the years you mention.

What was Jimmy Johnson's record against his rivals? What was Nick Saban's record at Michigan State?

Edit: JJ was 0-5 against Oklahoma, 1-0 against Baylor, and never played TTech.
Nick Saban did better against his rivals, going 2-3 against penn state and 2-3 against Michigan. But went 5-0 against Indiana (who sucks so not saying much) and 3-0 against Notre Dame. But even then, Saban had 2 winning seasons (out of 5) in his tour with MSU.

I'm pretty sure Saban beat Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State his last year at Michigan State. Shocker, Michigan State even beat the 10th ranked Florida Gators in the 2000 Citrus Bowl 5 Days after Saban left for LSU.

Did you really compare him to Golden?? He wss 13-2 against in-state rival GT.... 1-0 against FSU.... 3-1 vs Clemson..and 1-0 vs Va Tech... he has a 9-5 bowl record and won 146 games..more that 7 times what Golden won at Temple.... unlike Golden, Richt knws what it takes to win and he will be in a easier ACC schedule.... he did go 5-10 against Florida, but he lost to 4 Tim Tebow lead teams(arguably 2 of the best teams in SEC ever)... 3 Spurrier led teams...2 Ron Zook team...1 McElwain team (chubb injury ws a big difference)...give him a break

I never even used the word "concerned", so I'm not sure why you're air quoting it. It's just something I was thinking about after having a discussion with a few UGA fans over the weekend. So why don't you go back to school and learn how to read instead of trying to prescribe me tampons.

Don't give Whitlock any credit.

Almost every coach fails (and gets fired) at some point.

Jimmy Johnson was 29-25-3 at Oklahoma State with two losing seasons. Did that mean anything?

I'm not comparing him to Golden. CMR is a better coach than Golden, that's a statistical fact. I'm just pointing out another statistical fact, his record against UF which is one we should give more attention to since we're a Florida school.

He beat Penn State and Michigan but was still 2-3 against them, meaning he was 1-3 before his final year...OSU was 6-6, he also beat Notre Dame that year who was 5-7...But don't mention him getting beat 52-28 by a Purdue team that finished 7-5.

You make great points and we can sit here and argue plus counter argue even the most successful coaches losses on very small bodies of work. However Coach Richt has a very large body of work against UF, 15 years and in that span his winning percentage was .333. Crazy to think that a coach whose winning percentage was .333 for 15 years against one of our most bitter rivals is now our HC and loved by 99% of the board.

LOL - all you young guys. Let me tell you something us older Canes fans learned LONG ago. The Noles may suck, but the Gators swallow.
