Coach Macho - aggressive man coverage?

So...
From what other college DC's have told me...
The "match" version of Cover-3 is more "expensive". In other words, takes longer/harder to teach.

This… when I was a high school dc my kids struggled with match and I had to dumb it down to cover 1 and cover 3. The next year I coached D3 college and they got it and we were at the top of the league in defense. That next year I was at a FCS school and we were really good. It also helped that we had two NFL players on defense who played good long careers in the league and multiple guys in training camps

That's a good approach.
I actually love 3-match because it's basically a hybrid of Cover-3 and Cover-1 (depending on route distribution)
But the rules can confuse kids at times. No matter how simple you and I think it is, they are kids.
