Coach Kuligowski Touting His Bona Fidis

Absolutely was. "Retaliation".

People don't realize...Kuligowski was in the Toledo Sports Hall of Fame. And Toledo's AD erased him from existence within 24 hours.

Life comes at you fast.
How bad was the confrontation? Will Smith smacked a guy on stage in front of a live audience and he's getting jobs.

As we’ve since learned, Kuligowski has been fired for cause after the university alleged that he “committed a significant and/or intentional violation” of its non-retaliation and standards of conduct policies, according to a copy of the coach’s employment separation letter, obtained by The Blade through an open-records request.

Kuligowski’s personnel file cited no further details, and Toledo athletic director Bryan Blair said only: “He’s no longer employed here as of January 14, and we generally don’t comment on personnel matters beyond that.”

And, according to three people familiar with the situation, the termination stems from an incident during Toledo’s trip to Florida for the Boca Raton Bowl last month. Kuligowski was drinking in the hospitality suite one night at the Boca Raton Marriott at Boca Center, sources said, when he spotted and verbally harassed a female UT staffer who earlier in the year had reported him for allegedly making an inappropriate comment. (There is no record of the previous allegation in the personnel file.)

Blair sent Kuligowski home from the bowl site — the coach was not at the game on Dec. 20 — and, after a brief university investigation, he was fired. Kuligowski, 54, had one year remaining on his contract, which featured a base salary of $162,786 and an annual retention bonus of $15,214.

Supposedly it was just verbal, nothing physical (I got most of my info from The Toledo Blade article), but apparently it was serious enough that he was fired before the bowl game.

EDIT: Looks like @rsa coral gables pulled similar info from the Blade. Kudos!

Sounds like he didn't learn his lesson. Said something out of line to the staffer and then doubled back to curse her out for reporting it.

At that point the guy is a liability based on stupidity alone

The bizarre thing is that, what, AT MOST someone "gave him a stern talking to" for the original violation? If it had been a formal written reprimand, he would have had to sign it and it would have been in his personnel file.

Kool lost his cool.

I hold him personally responsible for the Dolphins drafting Charles Harris in rd 1.

He must really be horrendous to work with. I never understood why he didn’t just go to the NFL as a pass rush specialist, but his personality must be beyond toxic because the guy knows how to generate pressure with DEs
He ain't recruit for **** here I just think he was in the right place wherever he was......there must of been a guy he was tied at the hip with who did all the recruiting and he ain't do ****, then proceeded to use those kids to get praise where he's some genius coach when the kids had it already. I was geeked when he got here until I saw the way he recruited. Even Saban got tricked.

I'm glad I've never done or said something stupid while intoxicated.

Said nobody ever.

That doesn't justify anything, but you've gotta apologize, make amends, and move on. It shouldn't define him and everyone can make positive change.

He tried. I remember him interviewing with the Saints and Jets during his time at MiamiI.
