Ego and delusion are a mother fvcker, boys. Sadly, we are watching a once very proud, confident man come to grips with the painful reality that he is simply not a good head coach. I'll take that back. He's got a good overall winning percentage so he is a good coach - not an elite coach. But that's part of the problem. He's like that alcoholic who still finds a way to make it to work on time and hold onto his job which only masks the fact that he badly needs help.
So Richt is in shock. He's confused. On a personal level, it must be tough to accept that reality after all those years convincing himself that he is an elite coach. This is a crossroads moment for Richt. He can either go to Blake and tell him to open up the wallet so he can make the hires and staff changes he desperately needs to make and completely remove himself from day-to-day operations, or he can dig in and continue to lie to himself and the rest of the world in a delusional state and continue trying to prove that his way will work.
Or he can just resign. I hope for his sake it's either Option A or C.
