Jay Ajayi ready to be Dolphins starter and some eye-opening metrics about that; UM says no to CB; Heat; Marlins | Sports Buzz

• Though former four-star cornerback JC Jackson had strong interest in Miami, and cornerback is a need position, UM informed his junior college position coach, Isaac Shipp, that it won’t pursue him after initial inquires.

When Shipp told UM cornerbacks coach Mike Rumph that Jackson was acquitted on armed robbery charges, Rumph following marching orders, told Shipp that Jackson “got kicked out of [UF] and the fact was in that situation period” concerned Mark Richt and the school, Shipp said.

“Miami doesn't want the drama; I get it,” Shipp said. “Good luck when you play against him.”

Jackson is considering South Carolina, among others.

So UM continues to search the transfer market for corners. In the meantime, we were told last week that UM was working on adding another transfer receiver and a fullback from Division 2 Mars Hill College, nestled in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

The Palm Beach Post's Matt Porter reported today that the Mars Hill fullback, former Georgia prep player Marquez Williams, will indeed be added and given a scholarship. He had no major offers out of high school, ESPN said.

The Rumph "following marching orders" line was interesting. I don't blame him at all but that almost sounds like he may have expressed interest to Jackson and/or his JUCO coach before knowing (as Pete seemingly did) that Richt would never sign off on it.

Yes, it was. Very much so. Wonder why Barry Jackson felt the need to throw that in there? Obviously he had some agenda. That phrasing doesn't just happen.

There has to be something beyond what we fans know re Jackson. A CB of his talent IMO makes this team so much better that it would almost be a no-brainer to try to add him.

He had his chance to be a Cane...A true Cane would have come here regardless of the coach.... No love loss ....

I told you gUYsm long ago that Richt did not want Jackson due to character concerns. He trying to improve on mistakes he made at Georgia where he took questionable character gUySm and got slammed in media for having more players arrested than one could count on abacus.

Meh....kid orchestrated an armed robbery and skated on charges out of pure luck....fact is he led two armed into an apartment and an armed robbery ensued. The other people with him are still awaiting trial. He just happend to be the innocent thirrd party lol....not buying it.

It probably doesn't matter but if there are any lingering red flags with the kid then his JUCO coach needs to tighten up his media game. Maybe don't infer anything about future drama with the kid and stop with the "you'll be sorry when he lines up against you" talk? Again, probably of minimal consequence but it stuck out to me as much as the phrasing of "marching orders" with Rumph.
