Clay Helton update

THIS is wayyyyy more likely than Donnie Mullin being lured away from Gainesville. Not because Donnie wants to stay at UiF but because SC has no interest and all that smoke is just SEC cultists overvaluing one of their own.....as usual.
So we can forget about EB replacing Diaz?

Watch USC get Meyer next year lol
Was just gonna post that..I think Meyer ( and probably Khan) is gonna find out he’s in waaaay over his head and his “ my way or the highway” **** doesn’t work on grown men especially grown men with semi guaranteed contracts..

Politely, I am not sure you even know what you are trying to argue at this point. Who is recruiting them and to what program? All of the current coaches will be gone at the end of the season, so what does it matter if they are continuing to recruit. They don't even know the system of the next guy or culture, forgetting about the personal relationship. Let's just use Fickell. He is not going to interview, leave, or announce he is leaving until Cincinnati's season is over. Do you think he is telling his current Cincinnati recruits to come with him to a job that he may not agree to? Do you think he is contacting USC's recruits telling them he may come if he likes what he hears in interviews? Do you think current coaches are contacting commits saying Fickell may be the choice but we won't know until December, so stay committed? Unless they hire Bob Stoops or some other coach out of retirement and figure out how to get him to recruit with the limit on coaches, their recruiting process is 100% on hold until they hire the new coach after the regular season ends and they do their interviews.

Thank you. Maybe Fickell leaves before their bowl game if they decide they want him AND HE DECIDES THAT HE WANTS THEM, but there is no way he is quitting his current job midseason to go to USC. Why would he if he knows the job is his if he wants it? All they accomplished is having one less coach for the remainder of the year unless there was something super rotten behind the scenes.

@Rellyrell I feel like you are the resident USC plug. Any thoughts or insight?

USC is going to vet several candidates, looking at both the NFL & collegiate level. Fickell is the #1 choice, but they also want someone who can manage being at a prestigious school in a huge market like USC. My boy said the concern w/ Fickell is he was already at a P5, major program & failed miserably. Now that Cincy is moving into playing big boy football he, personally, want to see how they fare. They play both Indiana & ND on the road on their next two games.

I just heard today that E Bieniemy is a name that just came on board. He grew up in So Cal, played in the NFL, former National Champ, and is now the OC of one the hottest NFL offenses.

I also heard they want a coach that can empathize w/ the NIL, which is something Helton also failed at. So it’s not going to be some 3 hr, Gilligan Island Coaching Tour.

Appreciate that info. I said in passing a week or two ago that Id love to see us go after Bienemy If Manny gets canned. Never know if he gets tired of the NFL and it’s “hiring process”. Appreciate the info as always my man.

It’s about pulling the band-aid, not having a lame duck all season. No reason to wait, IMO. For Helton, too.

And, believe it or not, there are coaches and agents who won’t discuss a job that isn’t open.
After our loss this weekend and watching our team, I wanted to write to say you were absolutely correct. The bandaid needs to be ripped ASAP.

Here’s where it gets tough. Manny is on his way to a 6-6 season, again, which is unacceptable. I just don’t want to see this program lose week in and week out anymore. Not gonna root for us to lose so the irrational part of me is still hoping for 10-2.

Thanks. No reason to keep Manny thru Monday. None.
Agree 100%. It was easy to say that when you don’t care or have a read on the team. After yesterday and the team quitting when down by one score, yea, there is no other reasonable approach. And Blake needs to go play on the Metrorail.

Rooting won't matter b/c no chance we do better than 8-4/7-5 with coin flips at best with the UVA, UNC, NCST, PITT (w/Pickett da gawd), GT, VT portion of the schedule, and wins against Cenn Conn, FSU, and Duke.

Only joy this season is how bad the FSU program is.
