Now that camp is almost here, what are some of your expectations for the Class of 2016? Specifically:
I think Joe Jackson will be the best player in the class. His physical talent is unrivaled and he's already generating buzz in workouts. He has the best position coach on the staff and he plays a position that makes big money. Other candidates are the linebackers (including Zack McCloud, who has the most upside of the three) and Ahmonn Richards.
I'm most looking forward to watching Sam Bruce. His playing style is electrifying and I'm curious to see how his game translates. I'm also excited to see Jack Allison. He showed flashes in spring and seems to have grown another inch or two. He reminds me of a 6'6 Stephen Morris with better coaching.
The guy people are sleeping on is Michael Irvin II. The failures of prospects like Ray Lewis III and Kevin Olsen hurt his perception. Irvin dominated at the small school level and showed me a lot at STA, where they used him all over the field in big games. I think he can be the heir apparent to Chris Herndon as the Swiss Army Knife of the offense. I also think that Malek Young may be more of a stud than the hype would indicate.
- Who will make the most immediate impact?
- Who will ultimately be the best player in the class?
- Who are you most looking forward to watching?
- Who is everyone sleeping on that will make an impact?
