They have maybe the best DL recruiter in the country. Dudes been pulling top notch DT’s for years

And he only coaches DT. Now the guy they added to coach defensive ends was the former head coach of Marshall and former Ohio St Defensive coordinator. Which defensive coaches do we have that Ohio St would hire as a defensive coordinator?

Just to recap Coach Kool the best dline coach in college football hands down for the last decade thought Denzel Daxon was take and could be coached up. But Coach Simpson feels Daxon is not worth the effort of keeping him in the class an coaching him up, yeah okay! Oh and by the way Daxon is 0 or 1 tech all day who's main job is to be able to stand up double teams an collapse the pocket, which requires being relatively quick off the ball and being hellah strong both which he is.

You don't replace a 0-Tech with a 3-Tech, so in order to take Holley's commitment who is a natural 1-tech that can play the 3-tech spot Coach Simpson had to make room. Holley is very good but I am with Coach Kool in seeing Daxon as having a higher ceiling, it would have been nice to keep both players.

Go Canes

If Kool is so high on Daxon , why isn't he recruiting him at Alabama?

Oh wait, Daxon has no Alabama offer.

Worried when I hear coaches worry about their ability to coach up a kid with raw tools....

Sorry I think highly of jess but unless this is a character, bag, or simply wants to go elsewhere get talent and mold it... I’m a bit disappointed he better hit on his “picks”

On the flipside...0/1 techs are a near dying breed as a valued commodity. You've gotta do more than plug or you're too limited to play most downs in college football. The best (with pass rush upside) are mere two down players at the college and NFL level, still.

I'm puzzled by letting him go...due to numbers and what we are projected to finish with...but...if he's just a 0/1...I understand. I'll load up on quick step penetrating iDL and take my chances. Disruption = production. Its something 0 techs don't do these days, unfortunately.

I’m getting a little sick and tired of this “contact has fallen off” narrative.

Couple things about Snyder

1. He was the Co-DC at Ohio State. And I believe he kind of fell into that role because of his History with Tressel at Youngstown State.
2. He became the HC at Marshall, because Bob Pruett retired/quit a week before Spring Ball and Snyder know members of the BOT. And was able to get him for cheap. Another job he fell into.
3. He was a horrible HC that literally got ran out of town. There was a picture of 8 For Sale signs on his yard when the team got back from an embarrassing lost at UTEP. It was his last game.
4. His specialty is linebackers not DE
5. Start to expect players at his position to start to be undisciplined on and off the field.
6. You won't find a Marshall, USF, Texas A&M, or Michigan State fan shed a tear for him.

Seriously.
We need to keep our foot on gas exhausting all options. What the **** are we doing cutting contact with kids before the season even begins? Kids that can definitely play here at that. Even if we were full that would be stupid, so considering we still need more than 1 DT on board, stupid is understatement.

I dont understand how people keep saying coach kool is the best d-line coach, he's a top notch d-line coach but again, his d-lines played the run poorly, we had a lot tackles for lost, but we got gashed consistently by the better runningbacks, coach simpson has already proven to be a better d-line coach cause he's more of a tactician when in comes to coaching the d-line position. Coach simpson knows what he's looking for, daxon hasnt played football that long, when you a border line player and a new position coach comes in, time to show out again. Otherwise, see ya!

lol bruh youre more worried about a DT being a 1tech than being a UM caliber athlete?? Smh 🤦‍♂️ you’re over the top with the whining over a 3 star that doesn’t impress the coaching staff.

And Kul was a lazy recruiter Him offering Daxon means nothing. I don’t see Kul begging to recruit him to Bama bc he’s not good enough

For all the star gazers out there, Munoz is coming off an injury and should no way be a 3-star. By the time signing day comes around, I would not be surprised if he had a rise like Nesta last year and is viewed as a top 5 DT in the country. He dominated spring ball at STA and is dominating fall camp as we speak.

I want to see us getting more top ranked DL talent across the board yes we coached some guys up and they have been drafted. Nothing wrong with that but dammit I want some ED Oliver type cats back at the U. I want Miami to be tough as **** to run against. Give me a dominant front 7 all day long!

If we don't get enough great DTs we will need new coaching staff in two years. Miami cannot win without DTs. Not converted DEs, we need real live menfolk DTs like the two we have coming in this year -- but we need more and can't count on stealing one under the radar.

I hate losing a CC boy, especially a DT since I still remember Lester Williams from there. Leverage, strength, and quick feet with bear like build are crucial for a Miami DT. Need guys 6 to 6'4" about 300lbs. Any taller and they can't get under the center and guards to push them back into the pocket. Our DT have always collapsed the pocket and put the fear of death in QBs, driving them into the loving arms of our DEs, or destroyed running plays before they really started by driving OL back into the play or slicing into backfield to meet QB, RB and ball at same time. It will not matter who our QB is without proper Miami DTs.
