The portal gives you better immediate returns anyways. And we need immediate returns next year to regain momentum. Give me a 4* (or even a 3*) kid with 2 years of college tape and teaching/strength/conditioning over almost any 5* kid out of high school. Especially at the LOS.

Messidor and Darrell Jackson are perfect examples. Both 3* kids out of high school. There's rarely a 5* HS kid (on the LOS) that could have come in and made the impact on the DL they've both made.

Yeah it does but we’ll get ours from the high school class too. Everyone is down right now with how the season is going but theres some positivity down the road with recruiting / portal.

There has been silence on the recruiting trail
Ruiz has been on twitter last few days mentioning deals happening in the future
No mention of DVD’s relationship
Lance Legget has made no mentions of Canes

I think what you guys dont realize is Mario can sell opportunity and the Brand still. Most of these kids arent reading message board meltdowns, they are probably numb to all the twitter nonsense, and they likely hear negatives about every school from the the other schools. Mario sold opportunity last year, he can do it this year even more so and if we win 8-9 next year he can use it again. But then you get to a point where its no longer Opportunity its to be part of something bigger (where top 5 schools are at..NFL, NC's, etc). Kids now want to get paid, play early, make the league (another big piece the next 2-3 years)

The only difference is Miami does have it much tougher with who they have to fight off and what is used against them. It truly is like no other school in the country. Its not easy as times have changed. But if/when Mario gets this rolling we will still be the team that everyone loves to hate and hates to love. The Bama/Miami game last year was a mid day game and was the 3rd or 4th most watched game that weekend. Almost everyone knew we probably get blasted and people tuned in... The ND game a few years ago had everyone buzzing.
