CJ Bailey needs to come home

That’s the irony. I won’t complain if we take Mestamaker. I wanted him before I started rewatching his games. The truth is be hasn’t played against any defense even remotely as good as Bailey. And those teams who did had a pulse on defense had success against him. Yet posters on here that like him hold Miami and ND against Bailey. Talk about apples vs oranges.
yeah lookin at north texas' schedule those defenses he faced were absolutely pitiful...the only two teams with a pulse he faced the guy threw 6 picks lol.. if your'e happy about mestemakers potential here how could you not be for Bailey as well especially considering his competition has been Immensely better then anything mestemaker has remotely seen, it doesnt make much sense to me.

Please focus on those disaster games. What in those games gives you optimism for jump? Because he talked the talk before the game, but he was deer in the headlights. Mechanics looked horrible.

And please don’t say his supporting cast isn’t/wasn’t good enough. They have highly sought out skill position players.

I think he’s going to be the guy, but boy was he was lost in a couple games.
Playing Devils Advocate here. I think this is why he’s an option. There’s some similarities.

Was talking with some people I know at other programs

No one really knows who CJ Bailey is

Haven’t seen any 2,000 post threads on anyone else’s board about him

Maybe CiS really is just so far ahead of the curve on this kid that it’s going to be an amazing victory lap

I really don’t have much of an opinion on him good or bad but this is gonna be fantastic entertainment for years so I’m happy

I agree 💯

There were doubters about Cam Ward as well when we initially got him. Which is crazy because everything on tape said otherwise.

Sometimes the gotcha games are fun on here and I think he is going to be one of them that stirs that up.

My biggest thing I like about him is his ability in the red zone. I feel like that’s being overlooked.

I have no opinion on the QB's tbh, feels like Raiola has the biggest potential imo but then its pretty blurry from there.

QB's are a crapshoot.

Also ive seen people say Mestemaker is going to okie state, but wasnt the Mestemaker issue was that he was going to go to IU but he is requesting a hugeeee pay bump which caused IU to pivot to hoover?

Mestemaker vs Bailey debate sounds good but id be lying if i said i knew who would be better.

Go for Raiola!

CJ is not my first choice I just don’t think Soresby is truly available so he’s out. Mestemaker would be the next logical #2 but again I assume he’s going to OKSTATE. If those two are gone, Leavitt is gone through summer or around summer and Raiola seems like he may be heading to Oregon. If Hoover is also going to Indiana you really are banking on Leavitt’s foot being OK or Rocco Becht not following his coach to a better program in PSU.

- Soresby TTU
- Hoover IU
- Mestemaker OSU
- Becht - PSU
- Raiola - Oregon
If those 5 things happen who are we waiting on?
I would be shocked if JKS doesn’t go to Oregon if Moore declares for the draft. Idc what he said about staying. The only reason he is at Cal is bc Moore already had the starting job at Oregon.

Random, I feel like I saw CJ Bailey at Sawgrass a few days ago. Idk how many kids that tall are walking around with NC State Gasparilla Bowl gear on, but it couldn't be a coincidence. Almost wanted to tell him to come back to the crib.

Idk if he'd be my first choice, but I def think something is there, especially in what I think would be a better system (at the very least better personnel around him)

Maybe because he’s not in the portal so people have zero clue to zone in on him… I’m sure if you brought the Cal QB they wouldn’t have an opinion either.

Baileys played pretty well with the talent around him in the same conference… it’s projectable that with a better oline, WRs, RBs and TEs he would be elevated. I will say I wouldn’t pay him Beck money hes not a reset the QB market dude don’t get me pushing it that far

Was he a Cheesecake Guy or a Grand Lux Guy?

I’m out here by Cal Berkeley. I don’t know what they’re paying him but if they want to pay they can certainly do it. Like they’ve got money and alumni and they may be willing to match anyone. He seems locked in to the school and program. He left Oregon for Cal. I’d be shocked if he went in the portal.
It’s not that they can’t pay. Cal has a very wealthy alumni base. But from what I have heard his price is not as high as could be and part of that is he committed to stay. Also the family is not terribly sophisticated and prob needs some advice on the overall market. He’d be very highly compensated if he knew or left.

Those guys you list are “significantly” better based on what? Eye test? It’s a projection either way. You never really know. Before the season started the vast majority of people nationwide would have said Arch and Klubnick were “better” than all of them.

I’m not saying you’re necessarily wrong btw. There probably are better options than Bailey. I don’t have a dog in the fight. I just don’t think you can make definitive statements on who is better because none of them have ever played in the conditions we currently have.
It goes beyond the eye test, the numbers indicate they are better as well. You can argue that Mestemaker and Hoover are system guys, but the system they are most comfortable in is what our OC wants to do. Brown is an experienced guy that has grown a ton from what he once was, he's a safer pick than Bailey, someone that is a projection. Sorsby and Leavitt are top end guys for a reason, especially Leavitt, who has performed on the biggest stages, the question with him is whether his medicals are worth the risk.

I don’t think people have accepted how mediocre college QBs are and will be moving forward.

We got spoiled because CFB had access to a plethora of 7th year guys due to COVID for a 3 year period basically. Those days are done.

We need to accept the fact we won’t have access to that type of talent depth + experience ever again.

Last year was the first real year of noticing the mediocrity. The selection pool is going to be vastly different moving forward.

Byrum Brown sucks for our scheme. We require an accurate passer with processing capabilities.
