CJ Bailey needs to come home

They need a DE in the portal and don’t know why you fighting back on it. Lifghtfoot needs to add weight and lowe will be a freshmen. No way you can be ok with that as your starters heading into the season. Need at least one proven vet. If one guy leaves so be it

Depends on Lowe IMO.

I think Blount starts on outside on rush downs at one 4i. If Lowe is fully recovered, he's your other 4i. If Lowe is not fully recovered yet, I agree we need to fit the other spot because Lightfoot is more a Jack (so is Pickett), McConathy is still questionable both health and quality wise, and Scroggins needs another year.

I know that's putting a lot of expectations on Lowe. But he was already first in after Spring ball before his injury. He's a Bain level DE IMO. And Bain started as a true freshman.

and this is why I don't get complaining about the portal QBs.

Playoffs teams:

Bama - sat for 3 years before finally starting
Oklahoma - Portal
Miami - Portal
Texas A&M - sat for 2 years before taking over as undisputed starter
Tulane - Portal
Ole Miss - Portal
JMU - Portal
Oregon - Portal
Ohio State - sort of home grown (portal from Bama after Saban left but before starting school)
Texas Tech - sat for 3 years before finally starting
Indiana - Portal
Georgia - sat for 2 years before finally starting

Can we please STFU about portal QBs being a problem? 5 out of 12 not from the portal and 3 of those 5 sat for multiple years
How about you stfu. I didn't say it was a problem.. I said I don't like relying on it. How many teams took qb's out of the portal and didn't make the playoffs? We've been lucky and we paid big $$ and we're still at 500 making the playoffs with a portal qb. How's the portal qb thing working out for fsu? We got lucky to pull two qb's back from the NFL.. otherwise we were ****ed running Poff out there. Don't forget how many we actually missed on that went to other teams.

Who is your QB choice???
Luke Nickle & it's not even close. At some point we're gonna have to show TOP TIER HIGH SCHOOL QBS were capable of developing them and were a logical choice for them because we will play them. I like Nickles game but more importantly it's a timing thing. We will be breaking in a lot of new starters next year on both sides of the ball. Let them play and develop together. If we keep going for a quick one year option at QB from the portal every year we might as well make the decision moving forward not to bother wasting time and resources on recruiting high school QBs. I understand the logic obviously in taking a PROVEN portal QB. But when so many other prices are also gonna be in transition then it's an opportunity to prove what we're capable of. I'd play nickle and water down the playbook to limit his risks. No different from what Ohio State has done with sayin or Oregon with moore or bama with simpson or georgia with their QB. The schools that take this serious look for stability and multiple years out of essentially the most important player on the field. Can't do that if it's a new one every year. As I've said all along about the portal. When you're a school that recruits and develops their recruits than the portal is something you go to simply to fill in the blanks. It's about finishing touches on what is already a built roster. Not a base to what you're doing. Gonna be bumps in the road but that's how you develop culture and build a machine. We can't constantly process what we are then don't have our actions back up our words.

Oh ok my bad then. Tbh other than Lightfoot and lowe It wouldnt bother me if one of the other guys left
Disagree. Especially if weight is the biggest issue to why we can't just start an undersized edge than Lightfoot is the one who kicks rocks. I think each dude we have in that room the upside in is off the charts. In various moments each of them has shown the ability to dominate at this level. Lightfoot just needs weight and playing time. Pickett and scroggins play with violence and a motor you can't measure. Lowe I can't wait to see how he develops so long as we keep him in the moment. I personally wouldn't wanna lose anyone from that room cause they each FIT THEIR ROLES. Be it depth etc. Tackle worries me far more than edge. While at edge I wouldn't mind ESTABLISHED depth. At tackle I don't remember if blay is back, don't see moten coming back and Scott is the only proven piece in that equation. Plenty of talent in the room with Blount etc. Just wanna see on field production

Because his team was outmatched. What can a qb do if he doesn’t have time or his guys can’t get open?

Somewhat outmatched I get it. But it's not like he's the quarterback of Bethune Cookman or even say a Georgia Southern. And like I said, I just wanted to see a pulse.

How has he looked in practice this season?

No clue haven’t followed along who is available. Just saying Miami wins 8 games with Bailey as their QB. You aren’t winning championships with him.
NC State won 7 regular season games with him and the 93rd ranked defense in the country.

I think Lowe's injury was a shoulder. I wouldn't be shocked if he is already close to being fully healed.

If you notice this year with Bain and Messidor that 4i and jack stuff really doesn’t matter

Stability at QB for multiple seasons would be amazing.

And, it's money to spend at other positions. You raise the floor on any QB with a good oline. Unless the qb is a generational talent, buy a $ 4 million oline instead of the $ 4 million qb

I get what you saying but this program isn’t at a point yet where they can take that kind of risk. Also I don’t think this is a situation where nickel has showed he is the future like sayin did last year at osu. We can’t afford to drop back down to 8 wins right now

That's the thing. We don't really give time to back up qbs in practice. It's very limited therefore there development is equally limited. The resources towards development go into starters and the lil left over goes to the two. We need a dedicated QB coach who can on his own develop the entire room...

Is a dedicated QB coach on the table? Or is everything going to remain status quo while Dawson is here?

I think Moten will be back with a new nil deal
It's possible. Don't think so though. **** be third round or so I'd imagine. It's probably time he moves on. The main thing agents try to pitch for someone like him isnt draft position. It's his game being solid enough to get a decent first contract where he's at so he can position himself for a big 2nd contract. Longer he stays here the more he diminishes that opportunity because the physical positions in particular have a shelf life on how long they'll be able to play let alone be difference makers.

Would be nice to have an Earl Morrall on staff.
