CJ Bailey needs to come home

He’s been feasting on crummy teams so far this year. Let’s see how he does the rest of the way.

I’m not a Bailey lover or hater, but let’s be real for a second. What he’s doing at State with a **** O line and **** receivers, doesn’t exactly correlate 1 to 1, to what he’d do behind our O line with our RBs and receivers.

Cam and Beck have proved that if you’re good, you’ll produce here.

I have no opinion on CJ. I haven't watched much, other than highlights. But for those with strong, adverse opinions of him, keep in mind he's a true sophomore. Kids get better, particularly at QB, where reps really matter.

Every winning QB is a game manager. Great QBs are just game managers who can do more.

Mendoza, as a Heisman candidate and first rounder on a Top 5 team, is a great college QB. That’s not a debate anywhere outside this board.

Bailey, we’ll see. To me, what separates him from others is his combination of youth, experience and tools. He’s started since his true freshman year and knows how to manage the game. But he’s also a true sophomore with time to grow. At 6’6 with a great arm and good wheels, I think he would flourish in a strong environment (as Mendoza has) and move on to the NFL.

But there will be other candidates and nobody knows how it will turn out.
Crazy rumor from my Gamecock insiders. Sellers, if not given a first round grade, will portal out to rehab to a 1st rounder.
Sound familiar

OK, and I see lists of 'top portal qbs' and I am comparing stats, CJ Bailey is in the mix. Like it or not, that's going to be the type of QB we will be going after. The kid from Washington looks promising tho.
Bailey isnt good. I doubt this is the quality Mario will seek.

Meanwhile the rest of the cane/ducks fan base stays quiet as Mendoza/Emory does his thing bringing in a W on the road in Eugene... & Lil tommy takes yet another L while he's trying to find someone who actually beat them. Canes fan base on suicide watch this week. Maybe the eye test with untrained eyes ain't the way to go fellas. Matteer looked like ****, CJ ****, on & on. I'll tell you what though. If for whatever reason we decide to take one more starter at QB from the portal it better be that boy from Washington. That boy is cold! Hee the ONLY one I'd take in front of Luke or dereon.

I don't expect him to light it up any week because he rarely ever does.

He's an extremely overrated game manager.

Both he & Mr. Heisman Mendoza are 200+yd merchants who get hyped up on this board for their mediocre performances.
But it's a hard comparison to go from bailey who is simply hyped up cause he's a south Florida kid with **** results to Mendoza who while also a south Florida kid he actually has the results. While you knock Mendoza for his stats I'm not sure you're realizing that's all that's asked of him. He does exactly his part to help his team win and plays a clean game for the most part. That one pick six off his back foot while falling away being a blatant exception. Made a **** decision and paid for it. Desperation or not, can't make that throw. Especially at your own 10. I respect your opinion brother. I just see two complete opposites in these two.

@DMoney did the canes kick the tires on Mendoza during the offseason or had that ship sailed?

If we are to follow the blueprint, we need a talented portal QB who 1) played in an offense that stymied his passing, or 2) would look like a different player behind a top-tier offensive line. Doesnt feel like there will be a shortage of those.

Sellers needs to stay in college.
Not sure what's going on with USCe but they just can't score points.

I think the main issue is Sellers. He hasn’t progressed at all as a passer this year. He might need to transfer out and get developed somewhere else as a passer. Not sure where that would be

They don't ask Mendoza to do more because he's not capable of doing more.

He's had only Three 300yd+ games in 3 years as a starter & all of them came last year.

Whenever he's been put in a situation where he had to do more than what's outside of the confines of the system, he regresses to the mean.

Indiana is not winning because of his "elite" QB play, they're winning because they have a very good Defense & 4-man rushing attack.

His job is to play safe & not turn the ball over; same thing JJ McCarthy did for Cheatagain.

He's not been remotely close to being the best QB in the nation this season & is only looked at as a Heisman candidate because QB play overall is way way down from last year.

Indiana went 11-2 making the playoffs last year with Kurtis Rourke as their QB basically putting up the same numbers Mendoza is now. Acting as if Indiana's success is because of Mendoza is shortsighted.

They're the same team they were last year.

If we're grading all QB's by the same standards, IMO what Mendoza does in games doesn't match the hype & fanfare he receives, both on this board or Nationally.
