CIS experts discuss CJ Bailey- #1 QB in America

Would probably take Bailey above quite a few of these guys, but this is a quick list of guys that are all worth loking at...

1 Yr guys: Mensah, Leavitt, Josh Hoover, Dylan Raiola, Rocco Becht, Kevin Jennings, Demond Williams, Brendan Sorsby, Cameran Brown, Katin Houser, Noah Fifita, Nico Iamaleava, Byrum Brown, Owen McCown,

2 Year guys: JKS, Mestemaker, Malik Washington, Amari Odom, Dru DeShields,

2yr guys, but likely a 2nd QB in class option: Austin Simmons, Colton Joseph, Ryder Burton, Bryce Schondelmyer, Braden Atkinson,

JKS or Mestemaker...

Arm talent and size should have been enough to get him here. Mechanics can be fixed. Obviously he has way more upside than Judd, mechanics or not.
Isn't arm talent and size exactly why Judd was taken, eventhough his stats were garbage?

Arm talent and size got Jacurri Brown here too. Those 2 attributes alone shouldn't be enough for any QB eval.

Don’t judge Bailey off 1 game. This was the first time I’ve watched him this year. Obviously, a very poor showing. I wasn’t impressed. That said, I also judged Mendoza from his sole game against us last year when he looked scared and look at him now.

NCST’s front looked overwhelmed yesterday. Give him time to throw with our OL, and who knows.

Does Judd have that type of arm talent? I doubt it. Otherwise he would not be 4th on the depth chart.

Bro stop with this Sellers BS! The dude sucks! He’s basically Jacurri Brown all over again. Can’t hit the side of a barn and can’t read defenses to save his life. That’s why he’s sacked so much
Nah he is better than Brown. You would have been better off saying he is Anthony Richardson or even DJ Lagway

Lance is entitled to his opinion. It’s an educated one.

I don’t think Bailey is the best QB in the country but I’m still a fan. Our front obliterated their OL and he made some very bad decisions under pressure. Bad game for him and good game for us. Still think he will play in the NFL.
His decisions were worse than bad. Decisions would get an NFL coach fired. Also, maybe due to pressure, but didn’t step into throws & threw off back foot. Floated a lot of throws.

I’m sure a bunch of comments got deleted in old threads during halftime

Haven’t watched Bailey much this year, if at all, except yesterday I saw him play live at HRS.

There must be some other CJ Bailey that you guys are talking about that is an amazing QB, because the CJ Bailey I saw yesterday was ummm…..do I have to say it?

At 3:49 Lance Roffers who’s supposedly an X’s and O’s expert says he’d “take him over any other quarterback in the country.”
Why is evaluating QBs so hard? It's wild to me how "football guys" overthink this **** so often

QB is 90% mental, yet smart people get so caught up in "arm talent" and "athleticism"

News flash, 3 of the 4 best QBs of the last 20 years were not good athletes -- Brady, Manning and Brees.

You can't fix stupid, and you can't teach guys to process information faster. Why is this so hard to grasp?

Yes Judd was a mistake over CJ but picking QBs is no different than what happens in the business world. Guys who allocate money to PE funds don’t get fired for investing in Apollo or Blackstone but if a new fund launches that might be slightly different why take the chance - it’s easier to go with the metrics that everyone is after.

Everyone wants a 6’2-6’4 220 pound QB with the same mechanics and throwing motion. Smooth delivery and looks good at the practice field. It doesn’t always matter what’s inside the head and heart because for every one of those guys there is a guy that might be 5’11 or 6 ft and 185 but has moxie and creativity you can’t teach or develop.

Give you an example and it’s early the backup QB at Wake Forest - Steele Pizzella is a flat out stud. He’s 5’11 190 ripped. Runs a 4.4-4.5 but he’s he’s not 6ft tall. He would’ve been a 4 star if 3 inches taller and would had every college on him. Georgia offered him after freshman year but he didn’t grow. Was going to Washington State and the coach left and took him to Wake. I watched him against a number of top 25 kids all 4 stars and it wasn’t even close how much better he is but he doesn’t fit the profile. I want that kid who just wants to win everyday. Heck Brock Purdy can barely throw 50 yards and doesn’t fit the profile but he’s a stud.
