I looked at the 247 available WR options. There were only 2 guys above him who are not enrolled or committed already. So given what's available. I think we should all be relieved. You cannot go into a season with only 8 WRs. Even 9 is too low. We really need 10 P5 level guys at the minimum, of which Johnson qualifies, even if he's not the one we all wanted.

high school recruiting - "we need more WR!"


we then recruit really good HS Wr..


portal - "we can't play HS WR! we need portal WR that aren't even in the portal!!!"
 
I seriously question the lack of intelligence by some on this board.

A **** ton, let me repeat, a **** ton of players end up in the portal because they were initially back channeled, not only because they always had an intention to enter. If you are not back channeling players, you might as well get your bag and go home. Meaning, if you simply wait for someone to enter the portal, you already lost.

We are CONSTANTLY attempting to get dudes in the portal. Sometimes it works out, other times it doesn't. Missing on a guy who officially entered the portal and one who didn't, but we attempted to get him to, is the exact same.

I'm in the middle. I agree with you that we have a quality room. But it's too young and not deep enough. I love the three true freshmen. But even with them, I feel we need a WR1 to field the team Beck deserves. Why invest so much in a Top 5 QB if you are unable to surround him with the right tools?

We have quite a few soft-shouldered fans who think that we only recruit guys "in the Portal" and that the first time we ever talk to guys is when they are "in the Portal".

I'm not thrilled with the room, it's not a "strength" of ours

but when in the history of Shannon Dawson have WR not produced? - this thread will be gold because even if our WR's aren't the most talented, WR have ALWAYS balled out in Dawson's offense, especially slots. you're telling me toney(highly touted), ray ray(highly touted), and jones (experience) can't produce? nah that's dumb

**** a few of the people *****ing in this thread were the same ones that wanted Xavier restrepo to not come back this past year. just people *****ing to *****

LOL, I hear you. What ****es me off is I think there are legitimate reasons to *****. But the *****ers ***** so much I don't want to be lumped into their *****-assedness. There's no possibility of rationale debate.

I have no idea what they’re spending but I wouldn’t be making those guarantees after they gave Karnley $410k (didn’t collect all of it) to come here and that’s before the portal had closed and they got desperate
