Chris Lykes likely OUT for the season

wont play what's he say?

He suffered an ankle injury on a layup during game. He cited an unnamed UM trainer he claims had little experience in his job, who had him doing weight-bearing exercises during his rehab which not only aggravated his ankle but tore additional ligaments. I could have misunderstood as the audio was not clear to me, but this was my takeaway.

So they were afraid to tell Coach L about a new trainer that was in over his head? The whole team? Just confusing to me, I'm not in that situation, but I feel like if I'm out for a considerable amount of time and this unexperienced trainer is withholding information to the coaching staff, I'm telling the coaching staff unless I'm afraid of them.

Just came in here to post this. Hated to see him go. That next years turned out ok for us though.

There have been real issues with the UM training staff in the past. Don't know if that's still the case under Rad. Ask apfenny about his experience.

Yes, I remember apfenny's post on this topic. Shameful, especially for a big-time program.

We've had some really sad stories for how our trainers have let kids down with derailing their recoveries. There's been a couple that were far worse than others. We seem to have it figured out finally.

This makes me mad.
For awhile, I wondered if this was true with the baseball program as it appeared many pitchers were suffering injuries but I'm no insider and I have no proof.

This is not really all that surprising, we had multiple injuries that year and Lykes missed a ton of games. Not like he sat himself, Coach kept him out because he was injured but in retrospect the trainer should have told L sooner that Chris needed to sit and heal. Also if his ankle was as serious as he says he would have been examined by the team orthopedist, Kaplan. Not saying Lykes isn't being truthful but it seems like he's omitting some parts of the story. And why bring this up now?
