Chickillo article

5 f**king years and GOlden was still trying to run the same **** Defense and wouldn't fire his but buddy.

It's crazy that someone can be that stubborn.
Why would he fire the guy who's doing exactly what he wants him to do? Golden was the problem. The problem was not who the DC was, it was what Golden wanted the DC to do. Stubborn? Sure, but not because he wouldn't fire his friend. It's because Golden wouldn't change his defensive approach. D'Onofrio is/was just a pawn.

If the bold was true, wouldn't D'Onofrio stop using what Golden had him run and change the defense up? Personally, I think No-D was cut from the same cloth as Goldie.

I think you just agreed with me. He wasn't going to fire his friend who was running exactly what Golden wanted. Golden was wrong, but I think he really believed in what what was doing. I believe that Golden thought there was no one better to run his defense than D'Onofrio. And, yes, D'Onofrio believes in his defense. Any change after Golden was fired would be forced on him, and relatively minor.

He'll be gone soon enough.

Where are the posters who blamed Chickillo for his underwhelming career here?

What a waste of talent. Golden did the opposite of what a great coach does. Instead of adapting to the players' talents, he forced them to adhere to his plodding, reactionary, inept defense.

How glorious it is to know that after today and the bowl game this team will hopefully go back to speed and attack style of play, other than than the fat Big 10 Penn State style of play. Thank you Lord for this.

Kid was a freshman All American before he entered Golden's U Fat program

Well, he was getting pushed around at 245 his freshman year and his production dropped off significantly the last 6 games. Miami ran mostly 40 fronts in 2011. He would have been fine topping out at 260 to 265 pounds and playing 5 or 7 technique end in a 4-3.

You've never even gotten your boots dirty. It's tough to take you seriously.

I'll bite. What are you talking about?

Golden consistently tried to fit a square peg into a round hole and wondered why it never worked. Definition of insanity
