Chickillo article

5 f**king years and GOlden was still trying to run the same **** Defense and wouldn't fire his but buddy.

Golden was so concerned with his dumb, made up hodge podge defensing scheme that he forced this kid to be something he isn't.

Absolutely. Golden went against Miami DNA and insisted his way was the only way. THE U has a certain DNA that not only delivered 5 NCs but also created teams that only loss when they beat themselves. Everyone please remember this when you fall in love with coaches to be the next HC. Is he a Miami coach who will use Miami players the way Miami player dominated football. We need something OLD to win, not something NEW. We are the only school with access to enough talent like ours to dominate -- everyone else needs THINGS, not us.

It's crazy that someone can be that stubborn.
Why would he fire the guy who's doing exactly what he wants him to do? Golden was the problem. The problem was not who the DC was, it was what Golden wanted the DC to do. Stubborn? Sure, but not because he wouldn't fire his friend. It's because Golden wouldn't change his defensive approach. D'Onofrio is/was just a pawn.

"At Miami, they took away some of my quickness," Chickillo said. "The only thing they cared about was me gaining weight. I feel like the Steelers gave me back something I lost. I'm having fun playing football again."

I wish I could poke AG's eye's out with a fuggin red hot iron rod

Looks like Golden followed suite with Chad Thomas...Remember his HS tapes where he was going around over and through Defensive Linemen at around 240LBS.

The irony is Chick is playing OLB in the 3-4 with the Steelers. At 280 pounds, he had no chance to play defensive end in that system. He isn't explosive enough. I think he's playing at around 265. We'll see if he really makes a go of it. Good kid good and good player for us. He was better suited as an end in the 4-3 at college. He's Miami royalty so that's all I say.

Kid was a freshman All American before he entered Golden's U Fat program

Well, he was getting pushed around at 245 his freshman year and his production dropped off significantly the last 6 games. Miami ran mostly 40 fronts in 2011. He would have been fine topping out at 260 to 265 pounds and playing 5 or 7 technique end in a 4-3.

If the bold was true, wouldn't D'Onofrio stop using what Golden had him run and change the defense up? Personally, I think No-D was cut from the same cloth as Goldie.

You've never even gotten your boots dirty. It's tough to take you seriously.

I know this has already been posted but I am just going to re-post for anyone who still thought Golden was worth a ****...
