One little string of fortune, and suddenly this guy is right for Miami, but isn't right for Texas!
Do these folks - the Mario folks, the Schiano folks, the Chud folks, the Strong folks ad infinitum - want to die dumb?
Do they want yet a fourth in a three string run of losers?
I guarantee, if they were paying for the next coach out of their own pocket, you'd never see these names.
No. They'd be wanting someone with a track record - someone who's been there before. Done that.

Texas A&M, TCU, Baylor are all better now than they have ever been. His recruiting base has always been SoFla. I just think it's bad timing and an extremely awkward fit. If he took the job at a place like South Carolina, I think he'd kill it.
Not saying I want him here. Not saying I don't. He usually surrounds himself with a great staff. Meh.
What makes him perfect fit at Miami and not fit at all for Texas? Please elaborate.

Miami BOT had a big hand in UT getting Strong, oddly enough. Two historically awful hires in a row of Randy and Al giftwrapped a bunch of blue chip Dade kids to go to play for Charlie at UL and pave his way to UT.
He's a fish out water at UT, that's for sure.
He's not a great coach by any stretch.
And, I am acquainted with a kid on UT and apparently Charlie does not relate well to the players. So, he doesn't relate to players, fans, boosters and staff. Not a good formula.

In the state of Texas, UT at Austin reign supreme. It recruits itself. Have you been to Austin? Have you seen their facilities? UT athletic department is arguably the most powerful resourceful in the country. They have their own TV network. If Strong couldn't adapt to be able to use the resources he has there and do at least little better than what he had done so far, I don't want him here.

Not anymore. Baylor, A&M both have nicer facilities by a wide margin.
UT's athletic facilities are old and falling apart.

Black coach at Miami: Huge positive
Black coach (married to a white woman) at Texas: No bueno
SoFla recruiting ties at Miami: Critical
SoFla recruiting ties at Texas: Luxury

The Canes used to reign supreme with Miami kids until years of mediocrity made us insignificant. The other 3 universities are top 10 programs at the moment. UT isn't used to having that kind of competition (and you're wrong about facilities as whoop pointed out).

Well bc he already has SFL recruiting ties, and he understands the menatlity that needs to be instilled in our players to get the best on the field results. He did a great job as a HC at Louisville and did a great job as a DC at Florida. At both schools, he had both defenses fast, physical and playing with a certain energy about them that our players at Miami should be playing like. He already knows how to recruit this area as well.

I'm beginning to think Luigi and Weak have hired people to keep their names "fresh" around here with these constant new threads. Probably paying them with potatoes to do so too.
