He is about to have a Boss *** class coming in why couldn't he left for miami next year when golden gets fired :/

F**k around and let him get into the playoffs next year and he'll become a bigger threat to south florida
 
His class is 15th..

It is a typical Texas class and it actually shows he isn't a national recruiter. Look at who Baylor and TCU have returning I don't think he beats either next year.
 
Strong will have Texas in the Playoffs by year 3. Meanwhile in Coral Gables, Grohlden will be granted a 6th year after another 6/7 win season.
 
To add I think Texas fans are a lot like UM fans. They want Strong to build a fence around the state of Texas. Even if Strong was to go grab some guys out of Miami he better not grab more than a few or else the folks in Austin will be upset. Strong has to win with Texas HS players

He just has to win, but they'll have a lot more patience if he is getting Texas blue chips instead of what im sure they consider "Miami thugs" aka the N word. If he is going to try and go what he did with Louisville's roster he has to win big and win fast or they'll mutiny.

UT's natural recruiting area is probably a little bigger than TX. I'm pretty sure it's got enough talent for Strong to put together a really good team, and UT has natural advantages over TCU, Baylor, A&M, etc. The only thing that could possibly stop him is a failure to get to know his new recruiting pipeline fast enough to start winning games and keep his bosses placated.

I think betting against Charlie Strong at Texas is a sucker bet.

Lets make this clear...Strong is NEVER coming to Miami. The admin has already "experimented" with a Black HC. They got their "golden boy" already.

As one very incompetent man once said about a job..."its a destination" that is what texas is.
 
I'll bet any taker a whole pie with 1 topping at The Big Cheese and a Joe Zagacki meet-and-greet that Strong lasts only 2 more years there. His recruiting classes look to be okay (on par with what Mack Brown did for years) but he'll have absolutely no margin for error in a state that now has several other programs challenging UT. Strong might be a good coach but he sucks at all the ancillary stuff off the field and won't have too many defenders if he doesn't produce in a huge way soon.

True but didn't he also make some grand proclamation after getting shutout by K-State for their 5th loss about UT NEVER having another 5 loss season....only to lose later to TCU by almost 40 for their 6th loss?

Let's see if he can win long term without Clint Hurrt and by not playing the gladhanding game that the good ol' boys in Texas are used to.
 
Not sure how anyone can proclaim a success? They just finished 6-6. He will need to find a QB, he's had a mediocre record w/o a 1st round QB. He lost 3 games his last 2 years at UL against inferior opponents, 2 at home.

Most every coach gets the 1st year bump in recruiting.

You pretty much nailed it.

His recruiting class isn't that much better than Baylor's and TCU's and he isn't a better coach than Briles or Patterson. If Strong isn't going to bring south Florida talent to UT then he has lost his advantage. He has 2 more years and then he will be out at Texas.

The Big Big Texas donor, the guy who has given millions and I believe donated $20 million one year or something crazy said Charlie was "a nice position coach" and was furious he wasn't contacted or asked his opinion on would be replacing Mack Brown. That is what he is contending with. Results or gtfo.
 
He already has better wins at UT than grohlden in his whole tenure, I rather win 4-5 games and finish the season a better team with quality wins than a 6-6 train wreck roller coaster with no quality wins

COMPLETELY disagree. He wont need the best recruiting classes and he wont need to bring south florida talent there. all strong needs is the guys HE recruits and wants.

He will get them for the most part. His defense has already shown to be a problem in year one and it will only get better.

That conference hasn't seen a style of play and defense like strongs and in my opinion it will give him a clear advantage.

all strong needs is a qb.

If he doesnt get a qb then i agree with your assessment.

But if he does then he will run that conference. Strongs a **** good coach..... He can def coach with briles and patterson. Were you even serious about that?

If he had a qb he beats both teams this year, imo.
