Charles Power insight on Jalen Rivers

Only O-Line at the UA All American game who held his own.
Kid was clearly the best lineman. I watched the game and just focused in on him, dude is big and moved very well. He looked alitte sloppy physically but those feet can move. If loses some of the bad weight watchout. Idk y ppl are just assuming Walker will be the future LT, Rivers is better imo.

You red shirt him and Walker unless you're absolutely convinced they are a top 3 at their position...

If you plan on putting Rivers at G and burning his RS then he better be miles ahead of every other guard that isn't starting... So that includes a possibility of Scaife/Donaldson/Clark/Traore/Campbell/Reed

Same with Walker.. he better be a top 3 tackle Zion/Scaife/Campbell/Potentially Williams

You don't win big starting true freshmen every year on OL. Just not possible. It's a grown man position. Get them in 4 games this season and get that experience.

This. Let them bake in the S&C program for a year, get acclimated to the speed of the game, and get a feel of what facing elite pass rushers like Roche and Rousseau is like.

By the time their R-Fr year come around, they're more than ready to face off with Bama.

There is no chance Rivers redshirts. We need help on the O-Line way too much to be redshirting a talent like Rivers. This guy is not Zion Nelson. He is more than good enough to see the field this season.

Being good enough and burning a redshirt is two different conversations. No one said he isn't the future of the OL. You're assuming he'll be ready to play day 1... And you forget he also lost a spring that would have been telling .. Guys that I named either have starting experience or minimum 2-3 years in college SC.

You are underestimating the difficulty of playing OL at this level, especially for a true freshman.

There really should be zero reason we start a true freshman at LT in his first game ever. Or have we already forgotten the lessons of the Zion Nelson experiment?

Walker/Rivers reminds me of signing Linder/Henderson about 10 years ago. Just 2 elite dudes destined for the NFL. If we can keep them from starting until year 2 in 21, then we will really have it running right on the OL.

Walker probably redshirting regardless, he put a video up of him working out and he didn’t look like he was in any kind of playing shape, rivers might earn PT but definitely try and limit him to 4 games.

Agreed but 4 games for Rivers seems like wishful thinking. I think he will almost certainly be in the rotation even if we stay healthy up front
