Chaney hurt again

Agree. He was shifty but his strengths was vision , decisiveness and explosion. Portis knew the deal lol.
Gore is perfect evidence of why talking about "long speed" is a waste of time. I doubt Gore's 100m time was that impressive (either before or after injuries). But his burst over 10-15 yards was ridiculous. Like he was shot out of a cannon. And that's what matters -- being able to hit the hole at near full speed.

And vision as you said - an essential trait to be a really good RB.

I'd also add low center of gravity and thick strong lower body.

I still say the absolute earliest would be MTSU but keep an eye on UNC. That’s after a bye week and would give him two more weeks to prepare himself. So being back for Acc play is very doable and worst case as of today. Which is huge after the original assumptions Thursday night.

He’ll practice during the bye week and play against UNC. The UNC game is 7 weeks and 2 days after the injury. No need to rush anything for MTSU, which that game is less than 6 weeks after the injury. But UNC should be plenty of time. If we get him for the entire ACC schedule, that’s considered a win to me. Plus maybe he’s a little more fresh in mid-season than some of the kids on opposing defenses. Look at the glass half-full. He’ll be back for all of our important games but 1 and might be strong down the stretch.

Not sure why the panic here (not you Cribby, but others). Chaney out for Bethune, Southern Miss, MTSU will have no effect on those games. The only game it stings for is TAMU, and other 3 RBs should hold it down just fine.

I really want the stars to align for that UNC game. Want us to make a statement and beat their ***. If Don is 100% for that one it makes me feel it's more likely to happen.

It comes across as rough and I hate it for any athlete who is consistently struggling to stay healthy, but it also rings true.

I know what you meant when you said you couldn't count on him for depth and I hate it for the Don. Hope he keeps grinding, I'm sure he will, and at the end of the day things will be as they will. Effort and drive will determine whatever he does on the field, but so far the young man has shown nothing but try. There's no give up in him that's for sure.

As for Gore, he's so far from the norm in what he went through and did post multiple severe injuries. I'd be curious if he has any pain daily after that career of his.
You’re right. It’s tough to say the facts. I’m rooting for Chaney just as much as the next guy, but this is the situation. It sucks for the kid and I feel bad for him, but this is about winning championships. We need dependable depth.

The hype now is about a walk-on, Devon Perry. That’s all great, but that kind of feel good story doesn’t necessarily win us games. I hope Don keep working and God graces him with the results he has been looking for.

Great to hear. I’ll be at the UNC game man we got to beat those bums. Tired of losing to phucking UNC and teams like that. Inexcusable for a Miami a program!

But if Perry can eat up some snaps against **** teams so we don’t have Knighton or Parrish out there taking 30 snaps then it’s a win. Nothing wrong with Perry helping the workload late in games early in the season until we get Don back.

Shut the *** up dumbazz!

I’d love to watch Don put you on your ***n knees and slap you across the face with his dong. And there’s not a **** thing you could do about it! Don’t ever disrespect our players!

This kid has worked his *** off for this U and you WILL respect him!!
Super weird that you would talk about wanting to watch a young man slap someone across the face with their ****. I mean it is ok if you are into it, but maybe we can keep this creepy **** off the main board.

This was Frank before hurting his knee . . . I think.

Being a Bears fan, I’ve watched a ton of great RBs, from Walter, to Neal Anderson, to A-train, to Forte, etc. Also had the privilege of watching rival great RBs like Eric ****erson (pause @Confidence1000), Emmit, Barry Sanders, Robert Smith, etc.

I’ve seen all of the modern greats from the 80’s til now; a lot of them in person. I can honestly say, I’ve never seen a back w/ a low center of gravity who hunts the lane like Frank Gore except Barry Sanders. To me, Barry is the GOAT of pure RBs, & that’s no slight to Mr Jim Brown, Sweetness, or Emmit. With that said, w the stats Frank put up w/ no knees, imho taking off my O&G shades, he would’ve challenged Barry for the GOAT at RB.

Frank is missing, at least, 2 more pro bowl nods on his resume. Just like Barry, Frank ain’t had a QB worth a **** or coaching staff in tact long enough in his career.

With that context, it’s completely unfair to compare Don w/ Frank in regards to injuries. Don has shown an inability to stay healthy both at the HS & collegiate levels, just like his predecessor Robert Burns. I hope he bounces back, but one of the toughest positions in FB is RB & there ain’t too many Franky G stories when a RB gets the injury bug on their resume. Hoping for the best, but let’s leave that comparison out, pls.

One of our former greats played for the Bears and coached them.
