Challenge to the new president, Mr. Miller and the BOT

We had our chance at a stadium with this beckham thing at the old orange bowl site....Blake James wasn't interested.

we are right smack in the middle of our next HUGE mistake and that is letting these futballers take our land.
the beckham search has made it crystal clear that there aren't more attractive options available and yet we apparently are going to stand by and watch it get taken.
this despite the fact that the pols have signaled their interest in us being involved.
need leadership more than we need money.

"Our" land?

It's hard to compare what you see in these other stadiums on campus across the country. I don't think the typical Miami student these days is much of a football fan are they? It's a small school to start with. Then you throw in the surrounding area and we're talking about Miami here.
This is not some backwoods town like these other campuses where 90% of the population LIVES for college football and college sports.

Any stadium needs to be built to cater to the most possible fans from whatever base that is...alumni, students, etc.

Miami is about as backwoods, 3rd world country as you can get in the U.S. Most of Dade sucks man. Bunch of uneducated poor people running around vast areas of Dade County who recently left their country where they lived in a tint.

Why is an on campus stadium desirable? So a few students living on campus can walk to the game? Driving to and from the game would be a nightmare. You don't need to have an on campus stadium to have a great college atmosphere. USC and UCLA are doing OK.

Agreed it doesn't have to be on campus (in fact, that's not even a possibility based on room available on campus and Coral Gables laws), but Sun Life is way too far away. Problem is, there aren't many good locations to choose from, especially with Miami-Dade government never showing any favorable views towards UM (despite the major economic impact of UM in the area).

It isn't just that the stadium is far, it also is too big. They reduced the amount of seats in the stadium; however, the stadium itself is too big. Even with the renovations, it isn't an intimate stadium like the OB, Swamp or Lane Stadium. Seats are still far. Miami officials will have to notice the difference in the atmosphere for tonight's game. Even with just 30k.

I challenge you to attend the game at FAU tomorrow night and explain why the University of Miami students and alumni do not deserve the same home football game atmosphere you will experience tomorrow night. Just a couple years ago Miami played FAU at sunlife stadium. There was no buzz, no excitement and no demand for tickets. Yet an "away game" a couple counties away is sold out and South Florida is buzzing about. It's not hard to figure out why -- a thirst for a real college atmosphere. Bring this experience to the Univesity of Miami.

1. We don't have the land.

2. Everywhere we could have land is away from campus. Even if we had land close by there are only 7,500 undergrad students and a decent amount of those (3-4k) attend games at SLS anyway. Minimal increase if any in attendance from students. Traffic is a nightmare anywhere south of where I-95 ends.

3. A 30k seat stadium would be a joke and a money loser. ****** attendance or not we sell on average 50k tickets to each game representing a $10M +/- loss in revenue plus UM would be responsible for upkeep.

4. You obviously have never been to FAU stadium b/c its a erector set of ****. Traffic and parking are going to be horrendous and just wait to see how long the lines for concessions and bathrooms are going to be. Think ****-tris Bowl in Orlando bad.

5. SLS will be just fine next year with the roof and reduced capacity. Perfect for big games to sell 65k seats and not so **** large that a 40k crowd looks ridiculous. The 40k crowd for BCC didn't look too bad at all. My section was pretty **** full.

There are a million more reasons but just accept reality and enjoy what we have.

There is definitely space on campus adjacent for the BUC where we could put it. Sure there wouldn't be parking but just park near metro rail stops and take the train. As for tailgating, plenty of places on campus (IM fields, Green) as well as off campus nearby that would be great.

It looked completely empty on TV. You guys who go to games there always seem to think there are a lot more people in attendance than there actually are.

It was crowded before the delay minus the new idiotic luxury seats from the 40 to 40 on the home side. After the delay, SLS was a ghost town.

By firing Al Golden and bringing in a professional HC and Staff. This will change attendance and the buzz around the program. You can sit tight on the stadium until then.

I watched the entire game. You can try to convince yourself it was "crowded" at some point, but it was empty between the 30s from the opening kick. Then it completely emptied out after a measly hour delay.
