CFB is more balanced

I said they were better players. Toney is a true freshman and he’s more explosive than anyone we had last year. He may not end up as UM’s all time leading receiver but that’s because he’s not going to be here for 5 years
You used the draft to say they’re better players than them at Miami. And i never brought up being the leading wr here lol u think im taking mike harley over andre? Cmon

And more explosive doesn’t mean better, and i think he is gonna be better if he’s not already but what supports him being more explosive than jacolby?

A nice mixture of some traditional blue bloods, & new faces. Now only if we can take advantage of this parity just to make the CFP. 🙄

You are peeling away another layer that is a problem but one that should not have us looking like we have against the likes of mid ACC teams.

The evals are questionable af, and have been. The returns on the 22 and 23 classes are awful once you move past couple of hits. Until last year and a bit of 24 the portal evals were **** as well.

As stated on here by multiple connected posters, we have a top 5 roster money wise. Now we all know that we fall short against the big boys but we have more than enough to not look like we are fighting for our lives against mid teams time and time again.
WR,TE, LB if not for the portal DB recruiting has been ******.

Who’s responsible for acquiring and progressing the “talent” on the roster? Name the person that has that in their JD.

Mario Cristobal. So you need to decide if it's a recruiting problem or a play calling problem.

The worst thing that could have happened to us was Michigan winning that Natty a couple years back. It verified Mario's thoughts that bro ball can still win in todays game. Despite the fact that the Michigan Defense being elite was the major reason for that title, I guarantee that cemented in Mario's head that he could do the same thing here.

Both. Running game has been mid since FSU. Finally mixed it up on SMU, but when it really counted the calls were predictable and we got stuffed. Not only that, but the passing game doesn’t really try to creat mismatch or put our guys in 1v1 situations and target them. Besides Toney obviously.

Like humanity, nothing is black and white. It’s both. One can pontificate 1:1 but recruiting is dynamic, not static ratings, inclusive of roster balance, personality fit within team and scheme. Then you overlay that within the programs core values, delivered via the head coach (allegedly in alignment) with the Athletic Department’s oversight. All schematic choices fall on Mario both in roster construction, assistant hires, and constricted approach to aggressiveness across the board.

Definiitely not an XO guy, but since 2004, I learned quickly that COACHING MATTERS and that the trenches matter a close 2nd, but yeah...preach

He needs to bring in a legit spread OC and a dual threat QB that can throw it next year and just step out of the way. I watched Bailey and Nc State go nuts last night. Running lanes wide open with RBs not getting touched. Receivers running open and Bailey running free if nothing was open. Funny how we didn’t recruit him because he was a 3* project but rather take 3* project “passing QBs” who apparently can’t throw or run.
Been watching clips of Baileyy all season and know that he's gonna do worse to us than SMU's pegleg.

There’s still people here clinging to that outlier.

I agree, but let me ask you a question.

How much of the offensive philosophy right now is Mario vs. Mario making decisions considering Carson's struggles? What I mean by that is, Carson has not played well and has turned it over. More possessions, more open usually means more turnovers, more mistakes. Is the slow, grind it out game Mario's preference or is he trying to protect Carson? I assume it's a little of both. What do you think?
23 redux - CVD, TVB - pick your flava.

He needs to do what Clark Lea did and change his whole identity to “trying to win.”

I think he touches on it in the Netflix SEC doc, but I also think he expands upon it in other interviews, but basically Lea talked about how he was super stubborn in trying to win in what he thought was the “right way.”

He spoke about how he used to really focus on this belief that he had to really make them “student athletes” and talked about how they’d have team sessions where they would have to read books and talk about philosophy instead of watching film, basically.

Then he said he got tired of getting his face bashed in and NIL/portal era let him change on the fly and he decided to just change his identity to “whatever it takes to win.”

Now he runs a program that has his core principles, but just assumes the identity of its players and coaches and leans into their strengths, whatever that may be.

Will be interesting to see if it can continue beyond the Pavia/NMSU player era, but it was refreshing to hear.

If Mario could do that with the talent level HE brings in, we would be gross.

Both

I disagree. I don’t see this top level talent on our roster, maybe players turn into that. I think people may be looking at potential instead of reality.

Our best weapon on offense is a high school senior..I don’t see this super talented roster. I agree coaching will underachieve tho
We easily have enough talent to win the Acc and be a playoff team. Not the greatest depth but more than enough frontline talent . Teams with far less talent will be doing much more in our very own conference

I think we have enough to win the acc for sure. But i disagree with the far less talent point here… I said in the off season we don’t have this huge talent gap over these teams in the acc like our fans think

So with that we will have close conference games like we have had since we joined the acc and then thats when you have to factor in coaching and matchups

MICHIGAN WON BECAUSE THEY HAD A COACH STANDING ON THE OTHER SIDELINE CALLING IN THEIR OPPONENT’S NEXT PLAY WHILE SENDING PICS OF THE ENTIRE PLAYBOOK.

Am I taking crazy pills? Wtf does everyone keep bringing up Michigan but leave that out?

I brought the “who has he put in the league at OL” thing up based on facts provided by @Rellyrell and got assailed by the MarioBros. I’mma find that post and seek out my assailants and ask them like @ucaned asking about a 4 year old 1-week auto-ban for criticism of St. CoRchibal.

@JamesQuall on second thought, when you see who my main assailant is you’ll agree it’s probably best to not go into s vortex and down an endless rabbit whole to nowhere. I’ll give you a hint. He lives in the same state as me and he has a portion of our state’s name in his user name.

Watch this for a good analysis on the state of our program ...
There needs to be some significant changes in how this program is run.

You don't have to tell me. I am aware and agree with you lol. I am saying it gave Mario the perfect excuse to say his style of football can still get it done. Regardless of the context he chooses to leave out.
