Lot of ACC players or opponents of ours on there. I didn’t know our (last year’s) center’s dad was a major college football writer lol. We were also ranked the second best front 7 in the country behind Oregon.

Three really stupid football personnel people voted Malachi Toney for most overrated.

"Feel like most would point to Arch here but I go with Drew," says a high-ranking ACC personnel executive. "Think the rest of the list is proven and really legit talents. In my mind, Drew is the one and only unproven player at the Power Four level. (I) like some of the traits and he has ability, but I'm rolling with him because I think he is overpaid and (Oklahoma State) won't even make a bowl game."

Says a Big Ten general manager: "I'm not sure I'd put (Drew) above (Jayden) Maiava or (Julian) Sayin in terms of pure talent. I don't think you can put him above (John) Mateer, either. That's crazy now that I think about it. No way. He's the second-best quarterback in that state."

Re Arch Manning. Kinda an interesting quote because i wonder what program it is.

The numbers may be eye-popping but eight of our 10 experts tabbed Mestemaker as overrated at No. 9 overall. Manning, who had an up-and-down first season as a starter, finished with the second-most overrated votes, which was not surprising.

Other players who got overrated votes: Oregon quarterback Dante Moore (3 votes), Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss (3 votes), Miami receiver Malachi Toney (3 votes), LSU offensive tackle Jordan Seaton (2 votes) and Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy (1 vote)

One of our voters, who played against Oregon last season, said of Moore, "There was nothing after that game that was like, "That guy's the number two overall pick in the draft."

For our experts, there were two clear favorites on who should have been ranked higher. Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore led the way with four votes while Texas defensive end Colin Simmons received three votes for most underrated. Two other players received underrated votes: Lacy and Seaton.

Oregon under Lanning seems to run up big numbers on poor opponents and then fold (or get their as* kicked in the playoffs) against good teams. Which, if anything, is the opposite of Mario’s teams.
I also feel like a lot of the Moore hype is still based off who he was coming out of high school. And I am baffled at the inability of people to change their opinions about a player based on performance.

Yeah I dunno I suppose he’s still young he will keep getting better I just don’t ever watch him and think “wow”. Like seeing Cam Ward throw a pass at WSU I remember doing like double takes

Which he doesn’t need to be Cam Ward just saying with the hype he gets I don’t see that

I did watch the game they played at Penn State and thought he did really well there but also saw the Iowa game where they just smothered him but Iowa does that to people

I just think Mensah is better even before he picked Miami

Me too about Mensah. Moore came in with so much hype and it feels like the same people who ranked him a 5 star are determined to keep the narrative going.
I felt the same way last season about Drew Allar at PSU. No wow factor at all.
Lagway had that going for 2 seasons.
I felt that way about JJ McCarthy a few years ago.

Yeah I feel like the kid from USC is better than Moore. I’d say Arch has a much higher ceiling than him too.

I hear a lot of scouts / pundits talk about how Moore is the best “pure passer,” in college football or whatever; and I’m just not convinced he’s anything super special quite yet.

Bo Nix put up INSANE numbers at Oregon his last year and was still taken 6th (12th overall) amongst his qb cohort.

He has to make a big jump this year for them to be a real contender. Nix and Gabriel were two of the most experienced quarterbacks in CFB history, just from a starts standpoint. . .

But idk how much better Moore is going to get and it’s alarming how much worse he looked the second go around against IU. Hes also just a stiff athlete movement wise; super programmed; Texas tech missed a couple opportunities to get a pick 6 when they blew up obvious screen passes.

TT had 3 more turnovers than Oregon, and Moore recovered his own fumble.

I think their matchup against UCLA will be very interesting because that same staff gave him fits at JMU with much less talent to work with.

Dude has been lifted up by his teammmates more (pun intended) than the hype suggests

Yeah it’s crazy. I get not everyone watches all our games but our offense only really turned the corner when we made Mali the focal point

Going into the season I thought maybe we were asking too much of the kid

Turns out it wasn’t nearly enough

As much as we give grief about stuff like Lofton, D$ and the rest were spot on about Toney
