Which 3 CBs do you have on the field at the same time when covering the spread and at what specific roles? IMHO, the 3 best CBs are Stevenson, Couch and Blades. But I've read that Ivey may jump of of the others because of skill sets. Is that true?

Only thing Ivey has at this point is the frame. If him and Couch switched bodies, Couch would have been a 5 star.

TS, Couch, and Blades are your top 3. I let TS and Couch press. Blades may have to be off a bit. He seemed to lack confidence as the year went on. Not sure what happened with him

There are only two proven standard sets to stop the spread. Have a four man front with two excellent corners who can play press and man
coverage, or a three man front while disguising one's blitz packages. Any innovations would probably depend on one's personnel. If you were going to have 3 corners on the field you would have to go with a three man front alinement.

Ivey is number four on almost everyone who reads this boards list. The coaching staff loves his measurable’s and believes his ceiling is a high one. He has an entire off season to get better and prove us all wrong. Tyrique is obviously number one by a country mile. TC will probably be two to start next season. Blades is three imho
I wouldn’t mind blades moving to the striker position and Gilbert moving to OLB. He’s better suited for that role imho also, considering our play in that group last season. My2 might not be popular, but I believe it would make us a better team with our current roster.
Blades is too soft for Striker. Every tackle he gets dragged 5 extra yards.

Field CB - Stevenson

Nickel CB - Couch

Boundary CB - Blades

Ivey wouldn’t step foot on the field at CB again, I’d move him to Striker.

Stevenson has the best physical upside, but in terms of pure cover corner Couch is the most technically sound understanding leverage, natural footwork & proper technique.

Blades is a good cover corner as well in Press man, but he struggles in off Zone & has to improve his physicality at the point of attack particularly in the run game being able to fight off blocks, offenses tended to throw Bubble screens to his side because he couldn’t fight off blocks & would get pushed 7-8 yards up the field before he could even make an attempt to tackle the ball carrier. But as a pure Press cover corner he has good technique in Bump & run when he gets an early jam in to reroute the WR, where he messes up at is he stops trusting his eyes & does’t read the WR, when he gets beat if he were reading his man properly he could get his head around & make plays on the ball. Early in the year he played well, but as the season progressed he struggled & got really sloppy with his eye discipline.

He finished the season with 7PBU’s & 2INT’s had opportunities to have way more, but it seemed like he lost confidence or something as the season went on, idk what happened to him before the injury but his play just dropped the last few games before he had to sit out with C19 & myocarditis.

I think TRob will do a good job reconstructing Blades game & get him back to being more solid & consistent in coverage. I think under TRob’s tutelage you’ll see a more aggressive Blades playing up to his potential.

Couch is a very good cover corner & has the best technique amongst the bunch, he has natural fluid hips & great footwork, plus good ball skills, he just needs to be more consistent & needs to get physically stronger.

He can play outside at Field, but I think his upside will be best at Nickel in the slot against the opposing teams speed option WR, because he stays step for step in the hip pocket of his man & can transition in phase smoothly the best within the CB group. TRob & DVD will do a good job helping him maturate into a lockdown corner, he has very good upside & he’s just scratched the surface of his ability.

A lot of it will come down to Defensive play calling, our Corners excel in Man coverage, under Baker he had them playing extreme soft cover 2,3,4,5,6 zones & it would leave our secondary susceptible to getting picked apart.

Coverage should be better this year with TRob, but it ultimately falls on Diaz & the type of coverages he calls as DC. If he trusts them to cover their man, then he should call a lot more Man coverage, if he’s still calling heavy Zone Dogs, then it will be more of the same.

Tyrique in the slot, couch at one spot, Blades or Ivey..then a striker either gil or smith

Tyrique was nice in the slot at UGA. It will be real interesting how the staff uses him. If it were me that kid doesn’t leave the field. 1st 2nd I’d have Him on the boundary. 3rd down I want him inside. Great instincts, size and speed

UGA basically used him as a Nickel/Safety, they put him at the STAR position which is basically our version of Striker.

In our scheme he should be CB1 Field Corner, he has the ideal size speed & ball skills to be the best Corner on the team. Plus, his upside makes him the ideal guy to cover the opposing XWR.

True. I agree has the speed to play the field. But man he got that dawg in him where I’d want him closer to ball in certain situations . Hey Maybe that’s the south Florida in me.

If this allows us to get back to old school 22 and single high man I’m looking Foward to it. With couch and Stevenson in theory they have the tools at this level to play a lot of man. DB CB SHOULD **knock on wood** be the strength of the D. Next step is we gotta find consistent pass rush on 3rd Dwns without sending extra guys. This finna be the most interesting spring/camp in a long time. Lots of unknowns

U stop the spread by collapsing the line in the interior. Matter of fact u stop any offense by doing that. When we start producing top class DTs who are consistent, we will have consistency overall again. Its the quickest way to the QB and stopping quick throws.

Blades - boundary press corner. WR matchup dictates the level of help you assign. 2019 film was better than Stevenson has shown so far
Couch - slot corner. Ivins said he thinks Stevenson will be the slot corner. Ivins doesn't have a fvkn clue about football. Couch is the only guy I trust to cover a 2-way go and he's instinctive and physical vs horizontal pass game
Stevenson - field corner, press or zone (Quarters or Cover 3-Sky). Better range in zone and run support than Blades

Typically Diaz prefers left and right corners so this probably won't happen but that's how I would do it. I'd also prefer to have direct backups - Dunson for Blades, Clarke for Couch, Ivey for Stevenson. Communication and anticipation are so critical for DBs these days that I want my corners mastering one set of assignments. Play with consistent technique and understand route concepts based on release and route break patterns. Maybe then we can see a Miami defense execute in zone for the first time in forever.

Playing way too much Madden

Sorry these are conversations I have with our actual coaches and players. “Spending time thinking you know what you’re saying”. Gilbert, although was a “striker” in our system, was mostly used as an OLB fwiw. But hey, that’s what they tell me. I guess I’ll stop talking to them and call you. Lmao

I'd prefer a PM. Reach out whenever!

We got some dogs all over the backfield next season with a man-press DB coach!!! I just wanna see them boys play aggressive and smart next season.

I’m expecting us to be strong at DT and the best place to rush the passer is right in his face.
