CB question for the defensive gurus

Here y'all go, already annointing another transfer as the starter, I'm not sure how or why most of y'all are already name him starter, but I do know that's why y'all do, so I present to you, the "cart before the horse" brigade, tyrique:

in 2019 and followed it up with 34 tackles, one tackle for loss, and five pass breakups in 2020, along with two punt returns for:

"Stevenson was targeted 46 times in coverage and allowed 36 receptions for 363 yards and one touchdown"

The hypocrisy is to much, now with stevenson coming in, ****'s talking bout this is the best and most talented secondary at Miami since coach diaz has been here, but just recently, coach rumph and banda couldn't recruit. So again, the star whores have United, question, for the star gazers, what was the difference between, Blades & ivey, vs williams & now stevenson, cause alot of y'all ****'s, have and are celebrating the last 2, and have been criticizing the first 2, but according to the nerd recruiting sites, they all "4 stars", and williams couldn't crack the rotation and quit, y'all same clowns still blamed coach rumph, now in comes rique, many in here area already saying he's cb1, that man wasn't cb1 at UGA, y'all really should stop, lol, he hasn't earned a got dam thing yet, and y'all continuously celebrate runners! The new UM fans definitely represent at minimum the last 10 to 13 years prior to coach richt getting here of UM football, alot of weak ****!
Alot of those catches he gave up are when he was in the slot playing off coverage and giving up short passes. His numbers will be way better being outside and playing tighter coverage.

Obviously rique has talent, all I'm saying is, that man didn't do good st UGA! Can't be no crybaby, complaining about a school not using you right, lol, translation, he was getting cooked, almost all young db's are asked to cover the slot receivers when they first coming in, nothing new, bandy & Blades did it, ivey and couch as well, so if a player is getting on the field but crying, that's not a good look. I'm sure he knew who was their before he committed, them other boys didn't give up they spots so they found one for em and he crying about it, lol.

That's never a good look in football, he leaving a school not because he was on the bench, lol. Going to be interesting what happens here, cause I can tell you right now, people can say what they want about ivey, but what they can't say is that he's not competitive, that man not gone lay down his spot for nobody, neither is a healthy Blades nor couch. With t-rob & dvd coming in, he'll be starting with at least a 75% clean slate cause dvd been with the other guys, rique gone have to prove he's flat out better than our guys.

All those that were sweating t-rob to come to UM, as long as he don't bring that bullshat s.e.c. recruiting **** here, we just need him like coach rumph to be a good coach no matter who does or doesn't come in, NO EXCUSES! Seems to me like rique is a t-rob special, more than likely still recruiting, so t-rob will more than likely be the one in charge of pencilling in who the staters are, and since Bama more than likely will be on deck, depending on which comes first, the actual game or civil war, time will tell, however, I do know 2 schools off the top of my head that can go immediately from playing a game to participating in a civil war right away:

Ok, a 3rd one is ready and on deck at all times:

Field CB - Stevenson

Nickel CB - Couch

Boundary CB - Blades

Ivey wouldn’t step foot on the field at CB again, I’d move him to Striker.

Stevenson has the best physical upside, but in terms of pure cover corner Couch is the most technically sound understanding leverage, natural footwork & proper technique.

Blades is a good cover corner as well in Press man, but he struggles in off Zone & has to improve his physicality at the point of attack particularly in the run game being able to fight off blocks, offenses tended to throw Bubble screens to his side because he couldn’t fight off blocks & would get pushed 7-8 yards up the field before he could even make an attempt to tackle the ball carrier. But as a pure Press cover corner he has good technique in Bump & run when he gets an early jam in to reroute the WR, where he messes up at is he stops trusting his eyes & does’t read the WR, when he gets beat if he were reading his man properly he could get his head around & make plays on the ball. Early in the year he played well, but as the season progressed he struggled & got really sloppy with his eye discipline.

He finished the season with 7PBU’s & 2INT’s had opportunities to have way more, but it seemed like he lost confidence or something as the season went on, idk what happened to him before the injury but his play just dropped the last few games before he had to sit out with C19 & myocarditis.

I think TRob will do a good job reconstructing Blades game & get him back to being more solid & consistent in coverage. I think under TRob’s tutelage you’ll see a more aggressive Blades playing up to his potential.

Couch is a very good cover corner & has the best technique amongst the bunch, he has natural fluid hips & great footwork, plus good ball skills, he just needs to be more consistent & needs to get physically stronger.

He can play outside at Field, but I think his upside will be best at Nickel in the slot against the opposing teams speed option WR, because he stays step for step in the hip pocket of his man & can transition in phase smoothly the best within the CB group. TRob & DVD will do a good job helping him maturate into a lockdown corner, he has very good upside & he’s just scratched the surface of his ability.

A lot of it will come down to Defensive play calling, our Corners excel in Man coverage, under Baker he had them playing extreme soft cover 2,3,4,5,6 zones & it would leave our secondary susceptible to getting picked apart.

Coverage should be better this year with TRob, but it ultimately falls on Diaz & the type of coverages he calls as DC. If he trusts them to cover their man, then he should call a lot more Man coverage, if he’s still calling heavy Zone Dogs, then it will be more of the same.

I won't write any kid off yet because they lacked adequate coaching. Trob will get Blades and Ivey to play like different guys. Mentally they were not prepared as corners need and edge. Trob helps guys confidence, makes them talk trash and forget bad plays. He is known to mold bigger corners too. Our improved cb play and physicality will help our WRs as well.

Couldn’t read your entire post, because you lost me when you thought Tyrique wouldn’t start. Lmao

Maybe, maybe not, the bandwagoneers in here are comical to me, rique consistently got torched at UGA, but people celebrating, and will be happy if he asks in and takes a starting spot, lol, that's not UM football. I don't celebrate the runners and quitters coming in. There situation has to be like similar to trevon hill or bubba bolden, all that running from competition ****, ***** that. Also, it's just like the qb situation here, coach diaz was never going to give perry a fair shot, but all he did was produce and gave us a better chance to win every game he played in, and in the "big games" that man showed up, and showed his value as late as this bowl game, wasn't his fault we lost. That man perry has way more upside than King, but politics rule the day, they just went with the qb they thought was the better runner which is why the qb situation is in the condition it's in now, a rehabbing King, and no other starting experience behind him.

No matter who came in or started, perry stayed at minimum qb2, and never waivered, a True Cane, those are the type of guys who built this program, he was loyal to the class he came in with and loyal to his teammates football wise, and still didn't want to leave here, but we got many in here that got ****ed off when williams left(a non-True Cane)and blamed coach rumph, but are happy that perry is leaving, a real Cane, that's the principles alot of ****'s in here living by, but they still want to see Hurricane football, lol.

To me, all King was is an upgraded jarren williams, that didn't do **** against Clemson nor UNC, in games that were a step up in competition, all those other games meant nothing to me!

Couldn’t read your entire post, because you lost me when you thought Tyrique wouldn’t start. Lmao
I didn't say he wouldn't start, but just like ****'s in here anointed transfer tate as qb1 and we're shaking pom poms, and I said than, Perry not gone just lay down and give up his spot to tate or d'eriq, in fact Perry has way more upside than King does, politics aside. I would've rather had seen perry against Clemson and UNC, those are the games that showed exactly how limited he is, same against OK st. point being, this ain't gone be no cake walk for em, he ran from competition over their. And quiet and obvious as kept, our corners have not been the problem at all once again since coach rumph was here, especially when you take into account where the passing yards were given up, the ones in here who know football know exactly what I'm talking bout!

We talking real football, you guys are celebrating an unsuccessful db coming in from UGA, do you think if he was making all s.e.c. first or second team he would be coming here, did you look at the stats against him, was giving an avg of a first down every catch on em, that man has work to do, you obviously have no clue about the mindset of the top 3 db's we got.

Ok you win. I’m going to watch him ball out. You can lament every time someone catches a ball in front of him. Either way, he’s going to the league as a CB and he won’t see the third round. Someone is going to pay him millions after next season, and you might disagree with them too. As to his mindset, lmao I’ll ask him what he thinks about yours. 😂 this might be the post of the decade fwiw

I'm not sure why you trying to create something that's not their, you posting as if I said somewhere that I wanted him to fail, that's what is comical. What's also comical is, what has tyrique done at the college level better than any of our db's:

AL Blades Jr stats:

According to Pro Football Focus, Blades was one of the top coverage cornerbacks in the ACC in 2019.

PFF credited Blades with being targeted 41 times by opposing quarterbacks and allowed just 18 receptions for 240 yards.

dj ivey's sophmore stats:

"Ivey was among the elite Powrt Five CBs limiting the success of opposing wide receivers. Ivey had seven games in 2019 allowing one or no receptions. The success rate largely depends on how many snaps a player receives in a given game. Ivey did have blown coverages several times in 2019 hurting Miami."Ivey allowed 23 receptions for 347 yards and three TDs in 2019.

tyrique's stats:

stevenson signed with Georgia in 2019 out of Miami Southridge over the Hurricanes. In two seasons with Georgia, Stevenson had 47 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack and 10 pass breakups. Stevenson was targeted 46 times in coverage and allowed 36 receptions for 363 yards and one touchdown!

I'm not saying he won't start, but out of those 2 above him, who is he going to beat out, rique seems to have been getting picked on and singled out in his stats. He has work to do and maybe t-rob on his side, time will tell.

Ivey should be benched. He doesn’t have the dog to play striker. Everything else you’re spot on. Hopefully Blades recovers fully because he’s physically gifted more than everyone but an handful on the team. I’d still like to see Tae start out at CB despite what people say. I think his hips are plenty smooth. He’s very similar to TS on the field. Let’s get Pope on that side, too. I still think he could be a poor man’s Chris Henderson at CB if he grows a pair.

That’s a lot of typing to respond to your “you obviously don’t know the mindset of the people in question.” The issue i have is with your dumb *** post’s assumption about me and my friends. You are one passive aggressive guy. I do wonder if you’ve spent your entire life attacking and after playing the victim. Pretty sure I’ve got your mindset clocked. I didn’t even try to argue the football side of it, because you’re busy reading stats that were compiled in a different defense from a player that spent the better part of the last two years playing four different positions. I’m done with you.

Let the imbeciles Imbecile, so carry on! It's simple, you're not a football guy, so you have to talk about anything other than football that you think makes sense to you, the difference is, I been knew that, but since you refuse to learn, continue to watch and let the nerd recruiting sites continue to guide you! He was put in different spots because they were trying to see which one fit him best genius because obviously he wasn't dominating any of them.

Again he chose to go their, was unable to beat anybody out at corner so he got mad because they kept finding different spots(and can you name the four spots he played you were referred too)to be able to get em on the field, so he pouting and left because he was getting to much playing time, lol, ok, we bout to find out if he's the real deal now, his confidence should be up! In the meantime SYAU while the grown folks are talking!

Which 3 CBs do you have on the field at the same time when covering the spread and at what specific roles? IMHO, the 3 best CBs are Stevenson, Couch and Blades. But I've read that Ivey may jump of of the others because of skill sets. Is that true
Unless you have a complete mismatch at the slot WR spot and/or running Zero coverage (man with zero safety help) you won’t need a 3rd CB bc that’s the beauty in the versatility of the 4-2-5 defense. Frierson & Keontra both are more than capable but we ran our defense pretty stupid imho but what do I know..

To answer the question..my 3 cb’s are the guys you named above. Couch has proven to look like an All Conference type player at the nickel cb spot & the best two outside CB’s left on the roster are Blades & Stevenson.

I don’t know how anybody has figured Ivey is going to jump anyone...whomever said that likely smokes crack.
