All I know is I thought this kid was the perfect nickel and we don’t have a mother****ing functional nickel unless we grab our FS and move him to Nickel, and even then Fitz needs to learn some tackling in the alley. So, that sucks.

Miami Hurricanes four-star cornerback commit Kenton Dopson is moving up a grade, officially reclassifying from the 2027 class to 2026.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback from Miami Norland (Miami, FL) originally committed to the Hurricanes back in March. Dopson was one of the top overall prospects in the 2027 cycle, ranked as a top-100 player nationally and the No. 9 cornerback in his class.

As a sophomore at Norland, Dopson totaled three interceptions and 16 tackles, earning MaxPreps All-American honors for his standout play.

Dopson’s recruitment has drawn major national attention, holding more than 30 scholarship offers from schools around the country. His offer list includes Miami, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M, Auburn, Penn State, North Carolina, and South Carolina, among many others.

Now set to join the 2026 class, Dopson’s move up gives Miami an elite defensive back a year earlier than expected.
Sorry, not understanding…Decommits? So he’s NOT committed to Miami?

Briggs let him know after that hit too. Freshman on Freshman and one was pointing at the ref looking for help side. lol

This is true but at the same time it depends, if you confident asf and know you one of them ones then go to your dream place if the money is pretty close. Its tough but when Miamis trend is just UP UP UP it will be difficult to say no to a UM offer, especially if its your dream school and you a hometown kid and your dad is a Cane fan.
Miami got the guys they wanted, thats all ill say about that. #GoCanes

Lies 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh & 1 is a starter & had the highest pff grade for a corner on both teams

Cant fault the kid if the $ was that different, which it sounds like it was.

It's one thing for the money to be different.

It's another thing to feel "disrespected" by the offer. That's just personal feels.

Is he that unaware that he can't figure out why a school that pays suck tax is offering him more money? That shouldn't cause him to be angry at the school that doesn't have to pay suck tax.

To quote the immortal Ice-T...

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 good block & looks to me like Izzy on the floor as well 🤷🏿‍♂️

He just started at Corner vs the #1 team in the nation & he's supposed to be a senior in high school. Oh & he graded out higher than anybody in Miami's secondary last night.

Wtbs #GoCanes Go win the Natty

And he lost. Again.

True but we're not going to panter to a family member coming on here talking moral victories.
If things change, we'll let bygones be bygones but until then, enjoy the baked beans bowl and moral victories
I got google alerts, his name popped up in here & I came to see. I didn't just come in here talking lol.

As an athlete you want to be on the field. I promise you some of the guys that will get a ring over there aren't happy

Whoops...clearly, Kenton Dopson didn't call @KaneSmoke first...(kidding around, having some fun)...

Look, I respect the information. I'm not mad at the kid. For whatever reason, he made the decision he made. If he is NOT mad at Miami or feeling disrespected, that's great.

But he chose UNC over Miami. That's a fact.
He did & it's turned out great for him & Miami
