Gotta have tough skin in this game. If we need a CB we need a CB. Of course this is all hypothetical and doubtful to happen, but we aren’t in any position to be turning down talent at that position.
 
Taking someone back after flipping just doesn't seem like a precedent you'd want to set. It just gives guys that thought in the back of their mind, "hey, Mario will probably take me back if it doesn't work out."

It's not the same kind of personal situation, but the principle applies. You're just setting yourself up to get played for convenience. "Soft" is such a dumb word when it's usually used around here anyway, but in this case, it doesn't even make sense. Having a backbone and setting an expectation of commitment in your current players is the opposite of anything "soft." There needs to be some limit to how casually a player thinks of his relationship to Miami.

In theory, could that precedent be set with NIL? So for example say Cormani, out of HS and straight to us would’ve had a 5million dollar NIL deal and now, he would have a 500k one. You know he would want what we were offering last year if he were to transfer.

Also, I know he’s only a freshman, but do we really want a player that can’t start at a place with a famished roster like CU?

It's more like if you were dating Mckenzie Scott (Bezos ex-wife) who is worth several billion, she breaks up with you, but then a year later she calls you out of the blue, says she made a mistake and wants to marry you. Does it show a lack of backbone to take her back? Maybe, but it also shows you are a dumba$$ who could have been set for life but you let pride get in the way . As Marcellus Wallace said

If a player wants to come back after flipping I would think the situation would almost always be one where his stock has diminished. So yes, in some ways that takes care of itself in that he's less valuable to us than the original recruitment. And at that point we could probably do better. But even if he's still thought of highly, taking him back sends a message, and I don't think it's a good one.

For those who don't agree, why do you think we didn't take Rashada back after UF couldn't pay? Do you think we should have?

If it's that isolated a circumstance and it's only financial considerations, sure it makes sense. But I'm not talking about a "pride" thing at all here. It's about maintaining stability with future commits.

In most cases yes, but I think there is a legit chance the wheels just fall off at CU in general and it would have nothing to do with his actual talent.
