2027 Cayden Daughtry 5* PG from Calvary Christian Academy

Miami was in to see him this week.
As of now..I hear that;
He wants assurances he will be a day 1 starter and a featured player in the offense
Not all schools are willing to guarantee that and want him to earn it. Although likely
Mom wants FSU
Dad and uncles (alum) prefer Iowa where they have a strong relationship with the coaching staff
Playing close to home and being ‘the featured guy’ seem to be of increasing importance
Close race between the U, FSU and Iowa
OV Will tell us a lot
He is very low key and doesn’t say much

Didn’t joe Tipton say Iowa is fading away and it’s between the big 3 in-state schools?

He did
Iowa I in to see him this week also
They’ve gone from leading to 3rd. Mostly due to geography
Mom seems to be a strong influence
FSU may be our competition for now

What’s the Iowa connection?
siap.

Per Google:
Cayden Daughtry's Iowa connection stems from family ties to former Iowa football players, a strong mutual alignment with head coach Ben McCollum’s guard-heavy system, and an official visit to Iowa City for the Cy-Hawk game.

Brad Banks. (QB) CJ Jones (WR) are both ex Iowa football players and uncle/cousin on his mother’s side
Both were at his Iowa OV, along with his mom and dad

So Duke is getting crystal balls for Colton Hiller who is a likely candidate to reclassify and get to campus early so he can play two years in college like the trio of freshmen doing it this fall. This would be a major loss for UF who has his five-star brother committed for football.

Whatever NIL package they’re working with has gotta be lite tbh. Nevertheless, i still believe it’s relevant to Cayden because money that was being allocated towards Hiller could possibly be doubled down on Cayden for UF now that they are missing out on their top prospect

I would think reclassing is a bigger thing in bball than football right or will be I should say..

Mos def; just a lot of kids won’t be mature enough to handle it like Scheyer said. And it’d take some buy-in from the adminstration side as p4 HCs feel compelled to reject HS recruits in order to get portal guys to win now and make the tournament. So if HCs don’t even want HS kids; they mos def passing on 17 year old HS kids.

For the elite kids tho, this is a great option.

Development risks exist for the guys w/ secure jobs (Duke, Texas, and UCLA; i’d say Mick Cronin is the least safe outta those 3 but the Serbian kid he has for two years should help get further into the tournament as the final four memories fade)

Age of coaches, a lotta them being retreads, has something to do with it imo. Pretty wild how the NBA and NFL have seemingly embraced more millennial coaches than college basketball and football despite the latter having quadruple the number of teams. CBB has 365 d1 teams and it’s not much better either.

Do we know if he’s attending the FSU game at the Rock?
There’s already an uber impressive list of football prospects attending
Atmosphere should be great
Plus hopefully we brutalize FSU

Recruitment is pretty tight lipped. There's talk of being a day 1 starter but there was mention of the potential of playing with Boogie Fland at UF. Cayden would be the guy at FSU and it fits the in-state box. But I'm skeptical.

It will be interesting to see the sell with Acaden here and the chance of his return.
