Q. You were recruited by Butch Davis. What do you think about his name being thrown around for a head coaching job in college?

A. I love it. I’m a supporter of Butch all day, every day. He gave me an opportunity to come from Florida to UNC and make a living playing in the NFL. I thank him for that. I did everything that he told me was possible: Getting a degree and being in the league. Honestly I hope he gets the University of Miami job, me being a Florida boy.

Q. If he were the coach of The U when you were in high school – and I know you love Carolina – would you have gone to Miami?

A. Oh I’m gone. I only went to Carolina because of Butch Davis. And that’s how a lot of kids thought. I went to Carolina because of what I saw Butch Davis do at Miami. If he would have been at Miami at that time, I would have been at Miami.

Yeah but he gets credit for 4 of our five National titles and all of Unc's basketball titles .

He'd also gone 15-0 with a title if the suspensions didn't happen at unc.

By my count he's responsible for like 9 national titles

Chip Kelly has a bunch. Tom Herman will have as many as Butch after 1 year. Fuente has one already, probably will get to 2 this year, after 4 years as HC. Mike Gundy has 3, and will be adding his 4th this year. Chuck Pagano has 3.

Same reason we're not talking about a number of coaches.

Availability.

Some coaches are a waste of time asking about as they're NOT coming to a particular location.

Butch Davis is not available to USCe. Butch Davis is not available to Missouri. Butch Davis is not available to Virginia Tech. Butch Davis is not available to USCw.

He has money, he's doing good on ESPN, and there's one thing on his bucket list - winning a National Championship at UM.
