Chip Kelly won more BCS bowls than Butch did. Herman won a national title as a coordinator. Fuente has had more 10+ win seasons than Butch, and he's only been a head coach for 4 years.
Not sure if you realize this, but Butch doesn't have a ring as HC either.
I like Chip Kelly. I think we all do. Although even a 5% shot of us getting him is optimistic, I still say we go after him.
I don't know if you want to compare Butch's record as a coordinator to Herman's. Comparing 2 SB's to a Natty just wouldn't be fair to Herman.
As of right now, Fuente and Butch have exactly (1) 10 win season apiece.
Butch had an 11 win season and (3) 9 win seasons in his first 6 years of coaching at Miami. In those 71 games he played 24 ranked opponents (33.8%, or, better than 1 out of every 3 games).
Fuente has (1) 10-win season in his first 3-years and will have another soon. He has played 3 ranked teams in his first 46 games (6.5%, or, less than 1 in every 15 games).
I like Fuente and think he's a solid candidate, but I don't think looking at 10-win seasons is the right tact here. You gotta believe Butch would have gotten a couple of extra wins in those 9 win seasons if he were playing 1 ranked opponent a year as opposed to 4.
