this is gonna sound terrible ... but i'm still concerned about his competition in terms of being prepared to start right away ... i hope i'm wrong

McCoy is the starting LG. Possible Samson takes that and McCoy slides or the other way around. Then who are your backup guards .

Has Kinsler played at all?

Buchanan is small so not sure he is ready. Will be interesting to see how it plays out .
Samson probably gonna have a really good 2026 he took a huge leap this year

But yeah Kinsler played quite a bit. Minaya is another one the coaches love apparently. Kid is massive

LT - Bell
LG - Samson
C - Portal?
RG - McCoy slides over?
RT - Cantwell

We’ve obviously had very strong OLs since Mario’s been here. But I wish we had more sure-fire starters going into next year. I don’t think McCoy has looked all that great, Kinsler zero clue, Buchanan unknown. Thought by year 5 we would’ve had a bunch of Maugoia’s across the line.

Get bell to return and have Jackson at RT.

It would mean you only need to find a center and RG in the portal.
As slow as bells lateral movements are if he comes back(which he definitely should )than you move him to right side. Kids got all of the measurables you want at left tackle. But he gets murdered by basically EVERY speed rusher with decent bend and his run blocking is basic. Move him to the right side and let him develop his kick a lil more.

Gotta realize the nil commitment that goes into a highly recruited lineman. Doesn't really make sense financially to invest like that in dudes who are back ups getting developed. And if they don't have that commitment than why would they come here instead of elsewhere when money will be far better with legit chance to start.

Outside of Samson, I don't know that we have a highly rated guy or with a big NIL number who is not a full time starter, no?

Not like samson or francis. But we've got others that still have pretty good numbers. Kinsler outside of New recruits has biggest numbers for back ups if I remember correctly. But it does fluctuate yearly.
