Cantwell is confident

Zero concerns about Cantwell or our OL. They'll have some growing pains. But will be on of the most dominant OLs in the country by playoff time.

Our starting 5 looking pretty locked in now with Cantwell, McCoy, Pancake, Buchanan and Rodriguez. Then we several more guys who should be able to rotate in as needed without a lot of drop-off.

If Cantwell is solid at LT that changes a lot

He didn't leave early. He ran out of eligibility, and I believe was told that the likelihood of winning that battle was going to be small

What? Are you kidding?

We already had him signed for 2026. He had another year of eligibility remaining. He performed well during the CFP run and chose to leave early to enter the NFL Draft.

Per D-Money and Co., Bell needed a waiver to come back for another year lol

Yeah, that's a bunch of bull****. That is NOT the reason, not at all. The waiver would have been a piece of cake and was never in doubt. Particularly in his circumstances, since his first two years were at JuCo (and the NCAA is 0-for-1,000,000 on JuCo cases, this was not a situation involving multiple injury years or anything else). We had literally already signed a 2026 NIL deal with him, it was HIS CHOICE to enter the draft.

You're in a better position than I am. I haven't seen any practices, it's all hearsay and beauty contests. But the chatter has been nearly all positive. I would speculate Meriweather, Wilkerson, Congdon, Campbell and SJ. SJ is too small for a guard but he'll have the snap figured out by CFP to be Rodriguez' backup at C.

Donno mentioned Woodrow was showing promise. Haven't heard peep about Cline.
Cline is not practicing

Stanford being game 1 will be a good starting test for the oline. Remember, they developed David Bailey before he exploded at Texas Tech, and I remember them having a DT that blew up a few short yardage plays last year against Brockermeyer and the Guards. Not sure if he is still there, but I can see the Oline getting punched in the mouth and them really developing this game. Won't be a gimme for them.

I am surprised they put him at LT, I for sure thought Matthews had better feet for LT and Cantwell would be RT but what do I know? That means Matthews will be moving to RT cause he starts year 1 imo.

we went from our OL guys taking pictures like high school girls to us trying to figure out which 1st round pick will play where on the line.

If he hits, he'll become a major face of the program over the next few years and a fantastic ambassador of the brand for decades to come.

@DMoney How does Cantwell compare to Mauigoa at this stage?
Very different prospects. Technique he's far ahead of where Francis was. Mentally Francis was ahead of him. But you can see how quickly he's catching up with that. Doesn't really have the indecisive movements he had when camp first started. All of football is about mechanics and muscle memory. He's getting to where it's gradually becoming rinse and repeat. It really isn't a matter of if he hits. It's a matter of how quickly. From a perspective of measurements etc it's really puzzling how anyone would've questioned why we'd wanna try him right off rip at left tackle. Question should've been does he start or back up. But when you're starting over with 4 new lineman and the lone returning starter was the weakest of the group last year who struggled with length and speed does it seem like that's who you should pencil in as a starter for your QBs blind spot? Smh. I look forward to seeing his progress between years one and two...
