Cantwell is confident

Zero concerns about Cantwell or our OL. They'll have some growing pains. But will be on of the most dominant OLs in the country by playoff time.

Our starting 5 looking pretty locked in now with Cantwell, McCoy, Pancake, Buchanan and Rodriguez. Then we several more guys who should be able to rotate in as needed without a lot of drop-off.

Who would you currently project as 6-8?
 
The kid has all the physical tools you could ask for and was mentored by Joe Thomas. Now he has Mario and Mirabal. I think he’s gonna be just fine.

You're in a better position than I am. I haven't seen any practices, it's all hearsay and beauty contests. But the chatter has been nearly all positive. I would speculate Meriweather, Wilkerson, Congdon, Campbell and SJ. SJ is too small for a guard but he'll have the snap figured out by CFP to be Rodriguez' backup at C.

Donno mentioned Woodrow was showing promise. Haven't heard peep about Cline.

I haven't seen any practices. It wasn't a gotcha question. I appreciate your views and took your prior comment as though you had thought through the next 3 OL backups. I really don't have a clue. I'd guess Meriweather and Wilkerson, but don't have anyone after that. Cline, perhaps, but haven't at all seen him. I'm hesitant on the OL until there's a clearer idea of who'll be the RT.

I'd say today biggest risk is purely RT depending how confident you are In McCoy, and backup center with the fact SJ still isn't even really working in there, but seems WAY too undersized to truly be a starting guard for us...

It appears as of today Cantwell and Okunlola manning the Left side seems set. McCoy is almost certainly starting at RT. Personally I'd still prefer Okunlola at RT I think, but I guess that's just me. I'd certainly be making both compete for that job regardless.

Looking at how big Congdon is, I honestly think Guard may be his future tbh.

Anyways 6-8 Is almost certainly Meriweather, SJ, and either Wilkerson or Minaya. I really wonder what would happen if Rodriguez went down ... I'm not very confident in SJ right now. I wonder how it'd go if we pushed Buchanan to Center and Meriweather stepped into guard in an emergency.... (Assuming Buchanan got practice reps snapping and making line calls)

Meriweather should be solid insurance. Feel like he can play either of the tackle spots if he needs too.
SJ for insurance on the interior. Not ideal size but probably replacement level production.
Just need a young guy or two to step up and we’ll have solid depth.

The way this schedule lines up is great for the starting unit to gel a bit

All good, I can’t recall you ever planting gotcha questions. My answer unintentionally came across as defensive. My confidence is primarily based on the fact Mario and Mirabal are happy with and in some cases publicly praising the guys I listed and @Calinative put in his post.
